So as some may know, we're going through a rough stretch with out G2. It a mix of hormones, and him only starting to settle in. So rather than give in and re-home him, we're getting him a new cage. A nice big 30" x 40" king cage. His current cage is around 22"x24" so this will be a big step up.

This is the cage I've ordered.

It should be here next week. It's going to be awesome!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
A palace for Bobby, he's going to enjoy the freedom!! My experience is Goffins readily adapt to new cages and eagerly take bites from wood toys.

It's odd, he's being chewing wood blocks the past week. I spent a few hours in the garage last weekend making more. The weather might be nice this weekend So I'll try to get a lot more done.

I still haven't tried to pick him up but he's good. Which is good!

I purchase macaw-sized wood toys for my Goffins! They are voracious chewers and rush to christen the toy immediately after hanging. Also supplement with 10 inch sections of 2 x 4s. Purchase them from Home Depot and have them cut to size. Drill a hole in the center and string them from chain.

FYI: If you can, see if you can change to a full height door in place of the reduced door opening. It will just make life for everyone easier.

Also, I'm a big believer in letting the Parrot be part of the unpackaging and assembly of the cage. The more they are involved the easier the transition is for your Parrot and you!

Enjoy!!!

I've been making blocks from 2 x 4s and 2 x 10s. Bought a drill press just for the birds !

I love the idea of him helping, but he's really aggressive with me. I'm sure our Grey would help.
