Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
Last night was Noodles' first night in our remodeled 1800s home and she is surrounded by 3 air purifiers lol. It is stressing me out (and her--for different reasons) .
So far, she is okay....
Not happy with all of the change (over-barbering this morning).
Last night she flew into the router in an attempt to get to the record player.
She's eating and talking, but clearly not a fan of the change and TERRIFIED of the main entry hallway (which I knew she would hate---dark, old/massive wooden banister, chandelier, paneling). It is visible from the kitchen and middle room (which is next to hers). Hoping she gets over it..and hoping air quality isn't an issue with all of these purifiers, but the really expensive one has been stuck on red (poor) since I moved her dusty butt in---granted there were a few short periods of yellow (moderate) but no blue (good)....

I hope it works out...ugh...Shes stuck with me forever, but I hate feeling uncertain about the house that I love!!!
I hate that she was so happy and now I've freaked her out with the transition. It had to happen, but it is anxiety-inducing with all of the smells and new sights...Just makes her act odd (which I anticipated but dreaded )....
I have gotten out her plastic c-links and she seems to be using them more (it's like her nervous quirk) but I am about to go to the store and nervous about leaving her! Wish us luck!!!!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome to your new (old) home! I am certain in time Noodles will accept the charms of a vintage house. For now, lots of TLC will help you both.

Thank you all!
Here are some sad pictures lol

Here is the dreaded hallway:

Here is her messy room + 3 air purifiers thrown around the floor and her smaller cage:

and here she is on her smaller cage acting annoyed:

Thank you! It is a really neat house--- I love that it was built before the Eiffel Tower. It has been updated in some ways, but it still has its quirks. My favorite is the coal room that leaks a bit and has to have tubs periodically emptied LOL! It is structurally sound, but it just is old and funny in that respect. I know it's nothing compared to some, but I think it's great (minus the bird trauma).

I love the character in old houses, it’s gorgeous. Hopefully if you pick up some of your familiar routines, Noodles will get back in her groove and forget about the change of venue!

She'll adjust. Parrots hate anything new but they accept it eventually. The house is gorgeous. Just explain that to her.

Wouldn't it be amazing to learn more about the cast of characters who have inhabited that house. Any interesting documentation?

Oh yes--- there have been some very interesting people here over the years. The last was quite eccentric. I renewed my ancestry.com membership just to find out more lol (it isn't anything within my family, but that site works well for things like that)!

I was just typing some interesting details about the last owner and a stack of bells (mounted on cardboard) fell down in the other room (although there was no reason for them to do so). Call me superstitious, but I'm going to spare those details until things aren't falling down :) haha.
Still love the house--no bad vibes in general **knock on wood** (other than a few random sounds etc)

Remember to use the Real Estate Agents Home Tour Tools to reintroduce your home. Much has changed, but much has not. Start in those areas that have not changed and expand from there.

Maybe over cleaning the Bird-room, try setting one or more units in the areas around that room. Air flows in a home, determine the general flow and set the air cleaning units based on the general flow into that room.

Noodles et al... what up, y'all?????

How exciting. AND exasperating!
The ol' Rb and I have lived in... *counting out loud*... 1...2...3...4...5...6...
SIX places. Each move had its horrors and joys. Hang in there.
