I have a wild sulphur- crested cockatoo who visits regularly and has a leg band “WCB 23 7 58”
I am located at Nabiac, on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
I would like to find out what the band is saying.
Thanks,
Trev

As the clock moves forward, members in your part of the World will come-on and address your question with much better detail.

Leg bands in North America are place by the Breeder for their personal use to maintain control of their Parrots and linking Parents and Chicks. There is not a State or National requirements regarding Leg Bands in North America.

I have no knowledge of the requirements in your Country.
Check with your Avian Professional and local Parrot Clubs.

I can't help with any info about the band number, but I do know there's an ongoing study of SC2s in NSW (perhaps it's even Australia-wide by now). Many birds have been banded and many have also been wing-tagged. I'm afraid I don't know who you're supposed to report sightings to, but maybe Parks and Wildife could help?
