I hope it's OK to post this link? It's not for profit or anything, just a wonderfully heart-warming story about the Glossy Black Cockatoos, which were expected to go extinct after the all-engulfing fires on Kangaroo Island. As soon as I saw the photo of the adorable baby, I just *had* to post it so you could all enjoy. If it's not OK, then Mods, please remove it. :)

PS. Note the Glossy's *prodigious* bill, which it uses to crack open the cones of the native casuarina (sheoak) trees. These cones are tiny compared to, say, pine cones. They're only about an inch long and the same across. However, they're hard as iron and require a bill that big to even hope to open them. You can tell you're near a flock of Glossies by the sound of them crack-craaack-craaaa-aa-aa-aacking the cones open. Oh, and the raucously loud sound they make! :)
