I startled Rocky a little while ago by reaching out to pet his head while he was looking the other way, and he grabbed my finger in his beak. YIKES. But he realized instantly what he'd done and he didn't chomp down. Mind you, he chomps my arm regularly and doesn't care if he bites down, but he knows the difference between that and a finger. We also discovered baked beans at dinner. He always wants a bite of whatever I'm eating and I didn't think he'd like it -- he's not into things with sauce of any kind -- but he liked baked beans.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Truly bonded birds rarely bite to hurt. Rocky might have been startled but paused a microsecond to assess and chose to be nice.

Rocky knows "Beans, beans, are good for your heart......" :D

U2s are interesting lol. Noodles doesn't bite me often, but when over-stimulated, near her bedtime with an audience, she can still nail me once in a while (at my parents' house when we visit and she puts on her nightly "Noodles show" with flapping and ranting and bobbing etc...That's really the only time it happens for the most part and it's like she loses her mind or gets drunk on excitement...then she's like, hey...come on, party was just gearing up!
It's 100% my fault when this happens, because I know she gets that way, but she is so much fun that it's hard to resist.

She got me on the hand 2x times during our last trip but each time, it was because she was all worked up and excited and up past bedtime with everyone watching and singing to her etc and she got over-stimulated. I can't remember when she bit me last at my house...maybe a year ago when I put her away to go to work and she was mad about that..but it wasn't that bad compared to some of the ones I got early on in our relationship when I was still learning her body language etc.

I am certain that she is bonded with me 100%, BUT....just saying'...

When she's in her right mind (not super super worked up/overstimulated) she definitely has self-control. She sometimes will put my finger in her beak and move it gently lol if she doesn't want my hand in a certain area. She also is SUPER careful around my face (I know one day I may lose an eye as karma for saying this) but even when she has been really moody in the past, she has never deliberately attempted to bite on my face---Lightly got me on the cheek once during a bedtime dance session a few years back, but she somehow knows that if she bit me there it would be serious (as opposed to a finger or something). Once, she fell when I was walking and tripped, and she held on to my ear but it was amazingly painless because she did it so gracefully lol. Like wearing a bird earring for a moment, but again, didn't hurt (aside from her weight itself).

In the past, there have been times when she was irritated with me and just held my finger in her beak without pressing down, like, "you know I could remove all 5 of your digits if I WANTED to...but I shall spare you, peasant."

Too owners just love to set their white angels on me and the Too's seem to enjoy a friendly head scratch and kindly words. But this Amazon Snob is always left with less than comfortable feeling as with Amazon's the eyes are such a dead giveaway that you are either approved of or not! I guess this old zon lover needs to learn some Too insight! :D

4am cuddles are a good indicator.

Rocky does a floor show at bedtime, too, but he won't do it if its just me. He'll only do it if daddy's in the room, too. I don't know how to feel about that. LOL

Very cute, but I have to warn you that the touching going on there is really sexual (eek!) I'm sorry to be annoying.

Meisha: Umbrella Cockatoo | Female | 03/09/1989 Hatch Date
Possible indicator, Meisha goes into an excited anxious mode if I retire in the evening, closing the door. Goes beyond separation anxiety. The source, missing out on reading time where we wind down our day. Perched on the arm of the chair, she often preens while I read the old fashion way, with a book.

The more likely indicator is on the rare occasions when I have surprised her with a favorite food, after weeks in absence. Unprovoked, she has progressed to the top edge of her cage with an extended reach, holding the pose for me to comply to a cheek to cheek hug, closing the facing eye to prevent contact.

But I’m not fooled. Given the chance, she would run away with my hairdryer.

I’m barely on here anymore. But tiger truly loves me for saving her. If she isn’t making kissing noises then she’s cuddling

He smashed his face to mine and let out a high pitch kiss noise
That’s love all the way
