Shoe obsession

I have had "buddy" for about 3 months now, and he seems to have developed an obsession for my shoes.

he climbs down his cage and walks over several times a day and will immediatly untie my shoes and start re-routing the shoe strings. He will also start to nibble on the leather until I put my hand down for him to climb up.

Is this normal? How do I get him to stop?
At first everytime he started in on my shoes I would simply put him back on his cage, but he will simply just climb back down and start again no matter how many times I place him back.

wash an old pair out and let him play with them, just chuck em into a washing machine, with the coloured load, to be economical, to remove any dirt/excess dyes and infections.

or make him a toy with similar tie and lace up :) his sounds like his found a fun puzzle of a pass time

or he is being really cunning in knowingly destroying your shoes so you cannot leave house :)

just find a box etc to put the ones you wear and keep them out of sight, i'll be more worried about the infections that the shoes could carry, but then again, he aint after my heels :)

You know its weird but I read some where that this seems 2 B normal behavior for some Cockatoos. They can become territorial when it comes 2 their floor LOL. My Goffin's "Gandolf" does the same thing. Just wait until he goes for the toes :) Gandy has developed a toe obsession....:):):)
