Hello everyone.
I want to get option about taking your bird to work.
I have a large cockatoo and want to take him to the office with me about once every other week or so.
I have a travel cage 30x21 that he would be in for about 6 hours. Of course I would take him out a few times.
Will that upset his regular routine to much?
Thanks, Brenda

i dont see this as a problem and why you couldnt do it just keep in mind to keep them away from markers and anything with heavy smells i take some of my birds with me to places some times its all about safty first is all make sure you have leashes and harnesses on if comming out of the carrier just to be safe so the bird dont get away if spooked

What kind of job do you do where you would be able to entertain a cockatoo while you work? Most bosses would not let a person take their pet to work where they are paying you to do a job and not bird sit. I cannot think of many, or any jobs that this would be a good idea. Lesley

I take my lovebird to work with me about once a month. Everyone comes to visit him and he enjoys it very much. He's been coming since he was a very young baby so he's quite comfortable with it. I make sure he has lots of rest time in his travel cage to ensure he's eating and drinking enough.

On the other hand, I once or twice brought my Rosebreasted cockatoo to work with me. He was naughty to the extreme. He is a bird that I take to nursing homes to visit and cheer up residents and he's NEVER bitten any of them, and LOVES to do his tricks and show off, never showing signs of nervousness or distress in different environments. However, on one of the days I brought him to my office, what did he do? He bit, of all people, my boss! He bit her HARD, too. She had the crease on her finger and resulting bruise for MANY days thereafter (she has a cockatiel at home, so she was somewhat understanding about it). I have no idea why he bit her. Parrots will do the darnedest things sometimes. So, just use caution, especially when you're dealing with a larger parrot.

I'd love to take my birdies to work...however, not an option right now. As long as your work space is bird-safe, I'm sure it would be fine. He'd get used to the schedule and it'd probably help with socialization.
