My friend could no longer keep her Triton Cockatoo "Bird" because of the noise complaints at her apartment so she trusted his care to me. He's a sweetheart outside of his cage with me, but he's not a fan of men. Also, he doesn't really come out of his cage (on his own or by "step up") unless we are out of the room for awhile or we pick up a perch outside of his cage. (This trick was an accident, but I think it scared him and he flew out of his cage and ran over to me.)

Any suggestions on how to:
A) Help him warm up to men? I couldn't tell you why he's not a fan of men unfortunately. My boyfriend is a very patient guy and loves "Bird", but he would eventually like to interact with him. "Bird" lets him pet him under his wings and such but hisses and backs away when he tries to pick him up.
B) How to help him realize that there is a fun world outside of his cage without having to "trick" him out of it?
He's a sweet boy, never has bitten me or my boyfriend; I just want to make sure he's gettin the most out of life and not sitting in his cage all the time.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions! :yellow2:

It takes time and patience!!!! You can't push a bird to like you right away and expect him to do everything you want him to do. It takes time and lots of training!!!! There's a lot of training ideas within the forum.

Welcome to the forum, if there's something else you would like to know, just ask away.
