Yes I know he's only 5 months old but nevertheless he is trying very hard to talk, for the last few days he's been trying "Hello", well he finally said it today as clear as a bell and thats the second time he's done this. Now whether is because I'm always talking to them, or because he's hearing Bucc say it is anyones guess. Most of the time he is just making the sound like "Hello" but not actually saying it. As Bucc and Kito's cages are right next to each other they are, or should I say Bucc is, always talking to him, and most of the time he is saying Hello to him.

It was quite funny really cos when he said it, it seemed to frighten him as he came flying over to me, getting under my jumper and making the crying noises that the dogs do. :D Couldn't help but laugh at him, which didn't please him I can tell ya. :D

aw how cute... :35: yea Kito

Ok sence your sharing a learning story so am I....

For the last couple weeks I have been trying to teach Cricket to dance, of course I would do this with no one watching. I dont want anyone seeing me bob my head up and down like a bo-tard. Anyways, I have been watching her learn and I swear it is just like watching a child learn to walk.... Her head starts to try and bob, she is trying to go up and it goes left she tries to go down and it goes right. :D to tell the truth the first time I saw her do it I thought she was choking or having a seizer or something. It was to funny to watch because all I could think about is a women snapping her fingers going "Oh, no you didnt"

moving on yesterday I got home and I said dance and started moving me head and she just busted a move right with me... of course that meant she got a nice long head rub. She doesnt always do it on cue, most of the time I get that look of "what the heck are you doing ladie; you need me to call 911"

Yeah way to go Cricket.

Kito watches Bucc do this, but the only time he ever tried it he fell off the table, his head was going all over the place so fast. Both me and Bucc just gave him the look, "Your never right boy, you need serious help" :D Since falling off the table he hasn't tried it anymore.

most of the time I get that look of "what the heck are you doing ladie; you need me to call 911"

Yeah thats the kinda look me and Bucc gave Kito.

Aah, thats great news Peta. I've been trying so hard to record Kodie when he's talking. He is talking!!!! Believe it or not, but this boy of mine is saying things i didnt even teach him.

Here's a list of what i could get that he says:
"Linda", "Wilma", "Ma" (mom), "Kodie", "Kom hier" (come here), "Tammy", Calls the dogs, with the kissing sound and calls Tammy come here. And thats as much as i could make out so far. He also makes crying sounds of a puppy, i had a major fright the other night when i heard it:eek:, thought a pup was in trouble.

Sorry for taking over, but just had to share. He still makes weird sounds aswell, too cute!!!:D

O, and for those who believe that their conures wont ever talk, Squeaky says, "Squeaky" and "Hello".:D

Chi, yeah I really wish I'd had the camera on then, it really was funny. He kinda looked at me as if I'd pushed him off the table.

"Kom hier" (come here)

Yeah Cricket says that too... some times she makes it sound like a cat, at least to the untrained ear who knows what she is saying

kinda looked at me as if I'd pushed him off the table

I love the look, just cant get over it, cause its never thier fault
If she does something to her self I will get one of the three looks

the "it was your fault", "I ment to do that" and the "you didnt see that"
or if your not close bye she will act the nearest toy as if it was the toys fault

oh, Peta, does either of the two of your greys climb to the top of thier cage and hang upside down by one foot and scream bloody murder? Cricket does it all the time and at first I kept thinking that she was catching her toe on something but that wasnt the case... then I thought that maybe she was doing something where she would get stuck upside down... meaning there wasnt anything for her to grab to right her self... but that wasnt the case... she just likes to hang up side down and scream, almost the scream that she would give someone she didnt know or care for
just at a lost on why she does it

Our Cockatoo used to do that, but he wasn't hanging, he was doing flips in his cage.

There was a rose-breasted Cockatoo at the aviary that would say "Come here" and then eat some food from you, then when you went to turn away she'd say "I love you". It's a wonder she wasn't overweight. It was pretty hard to walk away when you heard that soft little "I love you".

Hmmmph....Birds are so manipulative

Bucc will hang upside down and sing Twinkle Twinkle little star.......... Kito well, he will hang there for ages and just scream the place down. boy oh boy does he ever think he's being clever.

It was pretty hard to walk away when you heard that soft little "I love you".

Bucc will say that if he's been sent to have a time out, I go to walk away from the cage, and he says "I love you Muuuuuuum" :D Its really hard to keep walking away after you hear that.

Meghan, Gemini can talk (tiel) not a lot but he does say nite nite, hi, and kinda says bye, so theres hope. Oh and he will give kisses. :D

Red. Have to admit I did laugh when he said what he did. I find it a shame that people will teach them that though. I have a strict no swearing in this house because of that reason. They pick things up so easily.

Unfortunatly I have family members that would love to hear my baby say naughty stuff  And sence I am not Queen bee I really cant do much about it, not to mention that I slip around Cricket every so often (but I am not trying to teach it to her like they are)
The man thing they want her to say is "shut up stupid" which in my book isn't so bad. My brother would yell it to her when she would start making her little sounds.... could be worse, although I think she called me an A-hole once  but she mumbles, so it could of been something else

Yeah I must admit I do slip every now and then, but I don't want to teach it to them. We have a friend come round who thinks its brilliant to try and get him to say some choice words, in the end I threw him out. :D The friend that is not Bucc. :D

haha i saw that video on youtube. The owner sounds actually really good. he is has a bunch of videos on youtube. He also has a dog. I love the guys accent too.
I think it would be kinda funny but i dont think i'd encourage a bird to say those things.
