My New Congo African Grey Parrot!! + (Can you Explain the video!?)

He is only 4 months old!! he is so adorable View attachment 1980 .. i got him before Yesterday from my friend!! and im so excited to spend Time with this parrot!! i give him fresh fruit, veggies and fresh clean water everyday.. im giving him seed mix but should i give him pellets or he is too young for that!? .. he is showing all the healthy signs, drinks and eats fine! and i have an check up appointment with the vet next saturday! but i have notice a weird behavior last night (See Video link)..he only does it when he is resting/sleeping! its like he is Stomping/tapping his foot and sometimes with a quick wing move! oh and i noticed that he is preening a lot and scratching his feet could it be some sort of mites or something that causing all of this!? Please tell me your thoughts!
Thanx in Advance! ;)

Bob - a Cockatiel;
Cricket - an American Budgie
Everything I have read says start them on pellets young as it is harder to get older birds to accept them as food.

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like he is just trying to get comfy. How big is his cage? The only reason I ask is because it looks to have steel bars, not wrought iron, and once again I could be wrong here, but I don't think I have ever seen cages very big that are steel.

I am so happy you have a grey. They are just the best of the best. I have a TAG named Rosie that I love so so much. First of all be sure to bird proof your home. If you do not know what I mean we can explain to you. Most important is to remove any and all Teflon coated appliances in your home. Has this bird fledged yet? Be careful of windows and what is covering them. No sprays, candles, plug ins, and the list goes on and on. You can find complete list on line and I will give you a valuable link for grey education. Very important to get them off seed (treat only) and onto pellets. I bet you vet will suggest Harrisons High Potency. Study what the calcium rich foods are and the use of full spectrum lighting is also important for good calcium levels. Others feed their greys Red Palm Oil for feather health. My Rosie's feathers shine like jewels. Cage should be large and Petco.com is a wonderful place to find them with good prices.

The wood perches that come with cages and not that great. Natural perches are preferred. I study the list of safe wood and how to clean it and find them in the woods. You can learn to make your own toys too. If you do not already have it the book Parrots for Dummies is an excelent book to read and keep on hand as reference. I still look at mine. Have fun with new bird.

Beautiful bird! I do feel the need to ask though, is this bird in the same cage as your bird that just passed away? If it is I do hope you throughly cleaned everything.

There's nothing wrong with your grey, that's actually a pretty normal behavior. He's a pretty baby!!! :)

You can go to youtube and type in making your own parrot toys and see how to do this. Many normal household items can be used. You can also buy parts on line. I shop in craft stores, flea markets, and other type stores. Baby toys are usually safe. I also recycle old toys to use the parts.

Your video showed me that the cage is too small and the perch could be better which I commented on. We are here for you if you have any questions.
