the transition from being baby, sweet and loving, to just before grown up, stroppy and grumpy. Yep Kito has worked out that he can bite and it does hurt people. Now if HE doesn't want to do something he bites. He's had more time outs today than Bucc has had in his life time. Blimey I thought Bucc was stressy at this age but he was a saint compared to Kito.

Bucc would stay on his playstand until he was told he could move, Kito has other ideas so he has to go in his cage, I also have to hide the latch up as Bucc will let him out as soon as I move away from the cage. Kito hasn't got the idea that I am head of the flock and not HIM, but he'll learn one day (maybe) :D

So Tex, if you want a Grey, who has just realised he can bite (hard), poop when ever or where ever he wants and then fly off just so he doesn't get his time out, then theres one here for ya. Just smuggle him in I'm sure Christy won't mind, being as she's such a wonderful gal, :D

The difference between these two is amazing, Bucc was so happy to please and Kito well he just don't give a damn and thinks he can get away with anything as long as he gives me the "look of love".

oooh oucha... time for camomile tea and oven mits:eek:

They'd work as well, I was thinking more along the lines of a muzzle. :D

He's in again now, scratching the bottom of the cage like a chicken. :D

Oven mitts work wonders, it's why I still have any fingers left :D But since he can fly, you might need a lasso as well!

And if Tex takes Kito, he has to take Iggy too, it just wouldn't be fair otherwise. :p

Yep thinks thats very fair. :D

Hey never thought of a lasso, great idea.

At the moment he's biting isn't too bad, as I'm used to Bucc so I can stand it, and that gets him really stressy he will then start to scream in anger. But when he bites the kids, they really feel it and pull away, even tho' I tell em not too.

nice try Peta. Think about how Bucc would feel if Kito came to our house. And Hamlet has just gotten over having Mac in the house. We have to give it time before we get another one. Kito would miss you too. Good luck with those bites and temper. Hamlet is starting to give a little attitude when he doesn't feel like stepping up. Ok, I have to stop typing now. They have both decided its time for mommy's manicure!

Might want to drink a pot of coffee first too...that seems to do magical things for you. BTW, speaking of my birds lovely moods, I am scheduling an appointment with a behaviorist at Tufts for sometime in the near future...he also owns an Amazon, although he is not specifically a parrot behaviorist. So hopefully the duct tape will become unnecessary in the future...

See, Minzer, I think that is where Iggy has the upper hand on you ... HE KNOW'S YOU ARE AFRAID OF HIM, and he has it in his little birdie brain of his that HE is the flock leader ... Girl, step-up to that bird and be a woman and show him who's boss!

Peta, I would take one of your two in a heartbeat ... but, I wouldn't Christy is right (yep folks, I did just put that in writting!) you would miss those little buggas ...

Tex, when you come make me my mac n cheese (not to get started on that again), you can pick him up, get mauled, drop him, and then I will dare you to pick him up again...you'll be asking for the mitts in no time :p

I know you're all right, and someone said that before, but my fingers are very scared of becoming unattached from my body, or severely disfigured.

Ok, listen, a 'zon can't sever your fingers from your hand, granted he could do some damage, but he's not a 'too or a big Mac ... your fingers will stay ... well, in a worst case scenerio, partially attached to your hand. Iggy is a smart bird, he knows you are afraid of him, and he knows what he can get away with ... it's time to show him YOU are the ALPHA BIRD ...

I've been "tagged" by a B&G and a Timneh before (Mac and Hamlet are NOTHING compared to these two) ... I know it's painful, but really, it's part of being a bird owner/handler. Think of Iggy like a child, you don't want to have to punnish a child, but it's part of being an effective parent!

Oh, I have no problem with punishment, but I'm the only one getting punished. There's nothing I can do when he bites other than not handle him anymore...maybe that's what he wants in the first place, in which case that would be a reward. I just can't win. And when he screams he goes in his cage until he stops, but I think I'm making a negative association with his cage, which I also don't really want.
