Ok, I definitely didn't imagine it when Merlin made some of Pete's amazon babble yesterday. She's doing a bunch of it right now! He is very happy! Earlier today she was afraid while I had him out of his cage. But, now she's talking his language to him. He has an extensive collection of cartoonish type sounds he makes, and he loves it when I imitate them back. Now Merlin is, too!

He did a little bit of hers today, too. He made her loud cluck to her.

I have to tell you her mimickry skills are quite amazing!

I'm guessing it won't be long before she starts doing Nanday, lol! Pete is already doing some of it.

I'm actually rather surprised that she can do what seem to me to be amazing imitations of video games, the microwave, and the fire alarm, but she doesn't speak much. So far she has said, "Merlin" and "Hi". Half the words she says are the names of the other pets she used to live with. She probably isn't saying them here because none of those animals are here.

The fact though that she is already learning to imitate Pete means she picks up on new stuff really fast. So I'm hoping she will talk some more, but if she doesn't, that's fine. I'm kind of hoping she doesn't start doing Pete's loud alarm noise or his Jack Russel barking dog imitation, lol! Those are quite loud with one bird doing them. I bet at least a couple of neighbors think I have gotten a new dog. None of them can hear the birds from inside their houses though as we are all quite far apart, but when outside, sometimes you can.

It will definitely be awhile yet before they can be out together though. As soon as he came out yesterday, she hunkered down in the corner. When she is frightened, she goes to the corner, under a perch, and puts her head down to the grate with her little red butt sticking up and stays perfectly still. I don't quite blame her though. If some man I didn't know was jumping around, laughing like a lunatic and yelling, "I love you!", I'd be afraid, too:D I would want to run away and call the police, lol!
