Their cage is really disgusting. I hope someone helps them. I wish I could, I have been trying to convince my parents to let me rescue an African grey. I will ask.;)

this makes me sick. I do not yet own a bird and am planning on getting a CAG, but unlike these birds owner's I am researching proper care and preparing my house for the bird before buying one.

I am amazed this birds are in perfect feather O.O But that cage! It's so mesy! If it was deep cleaned and had at least 2 natural perches and no wooden dowel plus toys it might not be too bad :(

Cage is atrocious but the birds' condition seems OK - hopefully they get a home that knows how to maintenance clean and that mess will become a bad memory!

The picture may be of 2 birds, but the ad only says they're placing a single bird named Paco.

I saw that to KB Equine, I wonder what happened to the second bird. Esp. since they are placing one and it comes with the cage. Thats terrible :(

So I got some more information. He says his ex took the other African Grey and he needs to get rid of this one, he wants $800! He said it is tame and talkative. San Diego is really really far from me. Maybe if it was $300 I would pick him up :( but I can't afford $800. I hope someone else can open their heart to this 4 year old African Grey!!!'

Yeah I just got the same info as you did Beako and Kiwi. I asked my husband if I could get him, but I don't think he will let me. He says I have too many already. I really want to help this little guy out!! I will keep working on my hubby, but when I got my last parrot a couple of months ago(also a rescue situation) he told me No more. So I don't know if I can change his mind. Plus this guy lives in California and I live in Utah. So I would have to have him shipped. My heart is breaking for him!!!! There are so many poor birds needing good homes. It really is sad!!! I just want to save them all!!!!

What really upsets me when I see pictures like this is that I would LOVE an african grey but here they are just way too expensive. In hindsight I think maybe that's a good thing because it means that if people purchase one then they are going to hopefully look after it as aside from the pure joy they give back it is a huge investment and you need to look after it but to see birds in dirty, mucky cages that are way too small and very neglected just breaks my heart.

Was your ekkie a rescue? Ekkies and greys are about the same price point where I am, so I was curious if they were priced differently where you are.

Hi QuackQuack no we got Puffin from a breeder ad paid $750 au for him. An Amazon would cost around $2000 here and I do not think I have seen a CAG for sale. Macaws are hugely expensive here like around 5 or 6 grand some way more. I live in Melbourne and have not heard of any rescue centres for parrots here although I know there are some in Qld. I would take a rescue parrot in a heartbeat.

this is really bad, but i see worse on a regular basis here. imagine a CARRIER cage,
with two greys or cockatoos, only one perch of course, and dirty like that one.

I'll have to look up the exchange rate!
