RIP "Petey" my beautiful sun conure
How bad is the Grey dust? Seriously considering getting a Grey. Done tons of research, just covering all bases. I have hardwood floors, golden retrievers. I sweep about every other day. Thanks in advance, Jenny

I have one grey and a high quality air cleaner which pulls quite a bit of dust. If you keep the bird and cage clean it should not be a problem. I have started to blow her off with a hair dryer sometimes. If you have anyone in your home with asthma it may not be a good idea to get a grey.

I have a TAG and he is a little powdery, but I actually hardly notice it at all . Now this is just my opinion and I might be wrong, but to me the Congos look like they have more powder then the Timnehs ? So that might be why I do not notice much dust? I also have an air purifier and like spirit bird said keeping his cage clean helps keep the dust level down too.

Jasper is 6 mos old and I have yet to see any dust. I have three cats and as many litter boxes so if there is any dust it probably goes unnoticed with that.

I will however say what no books ever mentioned: fluff..from my experience it is like having a cottonwood tree in your house. Be prepared for marble-sized fluffs blowing through your house as well as little bits and they are great at finding open drinks. I also have hardwood floors and only two area rugs through my whole place.

The dust I was expecting, not the fluff. Had I known about the fluff before I got him...it wouldn't have changed my mind. They are awesome companions and worth the extra cleaning. (as long as it doesn't compound something like asthma as Spiritbird said)

I just bought 2 brand new air purifiers off of eBay...they even have a night light and make no sound and are super energy efficient. They cover 2000 square feet of space between them both. And they are super easy to use, no filter just wipe it clean. My oldest has some allergies so Goffins have some dust also but I was in a home with two large type too's and the air purifiers make a world of difference. But seriously I got a great deal on eBay free shipping too!
