Our amazons drink from a bottle. When we got them that's actually all they had, now they get to choose between the bottle and a dish but we do still use the bottle. Just hang the bottle above the water bowl and eventually he should get curious and play with the nozzle and then he'll realize that water comes out when he licks it. It may sound crazy but I even bottle trained an iguana, I just misted the end with a spray bottle so that she licked it, it only took a few minutes until she realized that water came out. :)

Just make sure that if you solely use a water bottle that you check it regularly to make sure it's flowing properly, I've had some of the cheaper rodent style ones jam so that no water came out. You also want to be sure to clean it regularly so no bacteria starts to grow inside the bottle which could make your bird sick.

Good quality ones, like I'm sure you'd get from MSBS, don't seem to clog as long as you keep them clean. I've only ever had the cheaper plastic ones clog and that was when I was using them for rats and I'm sure the dust from the bedding and stuff contributed to that. You could also try one of those silo type waterers as well. I don't know if I've ever seen them for larger birds but I'm sure someone makes them.

Ok I'll look into that. The one from MSBS is specifically for birds but I'll look around.Could I soak the bottle and nozzle in a vinegar and water solution every week to clean it?
