If it sounds too good to be true it usually isn't. It says you pay upon delivery, but actually you are paying some strange sounding "shipping company" up front. I would guess once you pay the 'shipping company" you never get a bird. I could be wrong but I've heard of the same thing being done with other products and the buyer gets nothing. Personally I'd stay way clear of these people and buy a Grey from a reputable breeder. Just my 2 cents, but it smells fishy to me. They're not in it for a profit, they just want people to be able to own an African Grey? Not very likely.

i would be very careful and get it from another breeder. i got scammed by a seemingly good breeder, so imagine what a shady breeder might do. here's a good breeder

Seems shady to me. I would look elsewhere. You get what you pay for. Even if it were legit, at those prices I wouldn't expect the bird to be raised properly. Find a good breeder and invest in a bird you know had been taken great care of. You won't regret it. Good luck in your search!!

This site looks like a downright SCAM.
And this is why
ANYONE who has ever lived in Australia, or tried to move to Australia will know how restrictive our quarantine laws and import laws are.
While the African Grey does appear on the import list (Live Import List), it is listed as Part 2 –Live specimens requiring an import permit; CITES Appendix II.
$200USD for a Grey? I find that hardly believable. A COUNCIL permit, under local law costs $145AUD, let alone the cost of a import permit, AND a CITES export (for leaving US) and CITES import (for entering Australia) permit - at the price they're advertising?
Urgh. If they are real, I have no idea how they are doing it (exporting). My feeling, given the regulations and they countries they listed, it just seems rather dodgy. Avoid them like the plague. >_>

Efren - sorry for spamming your thread. I just get very, very annoyed and agitated when people try and scam potential owners. We don't need those kind of people on the internet.
So, sorry if I seemed rather rantish in my posts above. I hope that you can find a wonderful breeder.
I would recommend talking with members here who can put you in contact with their breeders, as well as your local bird clubs - otherwise there are heaps of birds in rescue shelters who are looking for a forever home.

I'm not familiar with the laws and regulations overseas; but in Australia we have the ACCC and ScamWatch (SCAMwatch home)
Given the registry information (saying it was registered in Australia), I would probably lodge a case with ScamWatch regardless, however they may need proof that a scam has taken place.
At the very least, we can protect our members here. Given they have over 200 sites registered on the same server, my guess is that even if that site is taken down, chances are, they'll just open up a new site.
I'll have to look into later though - about to head off to do some audits.

Thank you so much for responding. Today I got a CAG for $500 dollars. Which seemed pretty cheap (Africans can cost up to $1000 so I couldnt refuse.) His name is Avery (the owner thinks he might be a male), he is an amazing parrot. He is quiet and friendly, but the problem is he is a plucker! Is there any way to stop him from plucking? He started plucking 2 months ago, lack of attention and love. Is there anyway to stop him from plucking? I'll make a new thread tomorrow with a picture of him, kinda like an introduction. Thanks for reading

Your first step should be an avian vet to rule out any medical problems which could be causing him to pluck. If he wasn't getting much attention he may just be bored. Give him plenty of toys and shower him with attention and see if that helps. Could be poor diet as well. There are lots of reasons greys pluck, so you need to explore all those possibilities. Can't wait to see the pics. Keep us updated on him. Good luck!!

I second that. There can be several health problems that can cause greys to pluck. First visit should be to the vet. I dont know what vet fees are like where you're at but we just did our first vet visit with our CAG and it was $270, but that included all the recommended blood work and such. Totally worth it for the peace of mind of knowing he is healthy then you can continue to shower him with love and attention and proper diet and he will hopefully flourish!

I am currently thinking of getting him another CAG. The previous owner paid more attention to their Cockatoo than the poor Grey. At this moment he is on a stand in the main living room. I am going to go buy a large cage with plenty of toys to keep him busy. My wife and kids seem to love holding him (which is a good sign of progress.) He just took a shower today and he doesn't seem to pluck since he got here. I'll take him to the vet and see what's wrong with him and also to get him DNA sexed

Your new CAG might benefit more from being the only bird in the house especially if he was lacking attention before. My newly adopted CAG was very jealous of the other parrot in her old home and didn't get hardly any attention and she is letting feathers grow back and she has been with me about a month. She's very happy being the center of attention.

When I first decided to get a parrot I very nearly fell prey to scammers like this lot. They were advertising a macaw that needed rehoming due to the owner being ill. They asked me to write and give information about me and my family to see if we would be "suitable". They then emailed to tell me how lucky I was as I had been chosen!
My husband picked it as a scam when they asked me to send the money via western union ( which is not common here in Oz) which made no sense if the bird was here. We told them if they contacted us again we would report them.

I think that you should give you bird all of your attention for now. Concentrate on that bird and do please take to an avian vet for check up. Diet and boredom are the first two causes of plucking and vet can run some blood test for calcium and so on.
