Ok, so I found a really nice wrought iron cage at petsmart that i really like. It's pretty big but the playtop is actually taller than i am. Now I have read that its a bad idea to let a grey perch above your head as it may teach them that they are higher up in the flock than I am. How true is this? The playtop is removeable and then the top of the cage is right about eye level. What are some thoughts on this?

Cosmo has a dome top cage and I have attached a couple of rope perches on top for him and he sits on those and plays all over the top of it. It is taller than me and there has been no change in his attitude at all . He is still such a sweetie : )

He will be fine! Codie goes on top of her Cage.. sometimes she goes to the back corner if she does not want to come down.. I then just stand on a chair and she quite happily comes to me:)

I have asked this question before as I am getting a large liberta discovery cage with play stand on top some birds do tend to show aggression when perched higher than there owner that's why I have chosen this cage as it is perfect eye night for me and the bird so there will be no problems there are cages for African greys you can get to fit you and your bird

Someone once gave me a really nice almost new cage that was bigger than Willis T's cage at the time. He could perch on a small door near the top (it opened down to form a little platform) Well, after about 1 week with the new cage he started biting, he was 12 years old at the time and had never bit me before. Needless to say he went back to his old cage and he went back to his old self. I absolutely feel being too high is not a good idea.

Thanks for the thoughts. I figure if I go with this cage and the height poses a problem I can always remove it and make a tabletop playstand out of it. Your thoughts are always appreciated!!!
