My favourite experience with Codie was after Weeks and Weeks of trying to teach her to wave, the other day, I walked past her on her stand and she did it :) she finally waved at me... Now every time I walk by her or I uncover her in the Mornings, she justs puts that foot up to wave to me:)

I now need to try and get a Video of her in action LOL

Princess Rome- Moluccan Cockatoo (18yrs old), Rosie - Galah/Rose Breasted Cockatoo (2yr old)
My favorite with Rome: I was trying to get her to perch on a stand that I made (took days - had to chop the material myself, soak, debark then put it together - put a lot of labor into this stand) out of grape vine. She is terrified of wood stands, apparently, and she was really nervous. I had put all this work into it and even though she was trying to get me to pick her up I ignored her (I was like 'your gonna like this stand whether you want to or not'). Well she then said 'step up' and lifted her foot up when she did it. It was the first time she had ever said that (called her previous owners - that was not ever in her vocab before). :11: So of course I caved and picked her up. Ever since (I guess that was positive reinforcement) whenever she wants to step up she says it and lifts her foot. What was super cute the other day was when I went to pick up Rocco, as he was stepping up on my arm, she said step up as he was doing it. The intelligence amazes me.

Pepper, a Timneh African Grey
My favorite so far is when I've been gone for a while and I come in the door, Pepper will see me and call a hearty, feminine, "HUuulllloooooo!"

Also yesterday I saw her bob her head and I did the same while saying, "Happy girl, happy girl, happy girl." She did it again, I clicked and treated and she did it a third time.

Ben, an African Grey and Dolly, an orange winged Amazon
Mine was probably getting Ben (my African Grey) back after he went missing for 5 days.

He accidentally got out of his outside cage (my fault) and flew off. He didn't go too far and we could hear and see him. He was at the top of a 60ft tree going "hello Ben! Good boy!" I have honestly never been so distraught. Barely ate or slept for 5 days, walking around looking for him from 5/6am through til it got dark. Posted over 100 flyers locally and luckily loads of neighbours began leaving cups of tea (his favourite) in their gardens, looking for him or just ringing me to see whether he was home yet.

After a few days we stopped hearing him and I had to accept that he might have died. Just as I was beginning to lose hope we got a phone call from a vet I had alerted to say that he had been found the night before and picked up by a wildlife rescue.

I drove like a crazy person to the rescue centre and there he was, thin, bedraggled and fairly sunburned but none the less definitely Ben. He looked so pathetic but as soon as he saw us just went "...hello..." and launched himself at us. It was the best moment with him to get him home.

Safe to say he's never being given the slightest opportunity to escape ever again!

I have heard stories of birds getting away and going missing and it scares me to death. I hope that never happens to Picasso. I know he is an animal, but how scary to imagine him out there alone in that great big world!
