Is it still on him? Was it cut, or is it just an open band?

Where did you get him from, did the previous owners give you any information?

How long have you had him?

You may not want to do much with him the first couple of days (if its been that short of a time) just let him adjust to his surroundings. Let him get comfortable with you and the household routine. Let him see that you are the one that feeds him and provides treats etc.

After a bit of settling in time stick training would probably be the first step in training. We can describe this if needed, but first let us know a little more.

I'm not sure how you would know the age. Keep working with him and I'm sure he will come around it will probably just take longer then you would like.
