TAG
Hi everyone, I have a young (2 yrs) TAG, who is a very nervous bird. I offer him several different types of toys & chew things in his cage, but I never see him touch anything. The Senegal goes through things like candy, but the grey never seems to play or chew on anything in his cage. His beak grows out too long as a result, and I have to get the vet to trim it.

I was just wondering if anyone would have any suggestions as to why he might do this, and if there is anything I could try to encourage him to chew?

Thanks!

I too have a Tag almost months old. She chews most things. I got her baskets that were not painted with anything and keep her toys in them She chews the baskets very well. There are lots of chew toys but you best bet is to let your other bird teach her. They learn from eachother. Good luck Dianne & Rosie

They learn from eachother.

Spiritbird is right, they do learn from example. i have a 7 month old CAG, he chews everything in his path except of course the hundreds of dollars worth of beautiful parrot toys i bought him before i knew any better. the few toys he does play with are because i figured if he saw me playing with them it would spark his curiosity, sure enough he now plays with the toys he saw me playing with. i must admit i am a little jealous that you have a Grey who doesn't treat your house as it's own personal chewing toy!
