CAG Quincy - BD 3/27/00. Gotcha 6/00 ~ GW Macaw Savannah - BD 6/21/93. Gotcha 4/13 ~ B&G Macaw Coqui - BD 9/3/03. Gotcha 10/13 ~ Blue Crown Conure Sidney - BD Unknown Approx 5 Years Old. Gotcha 6/15/
So my little Quincy has started a new troubling habbit. He has become a wanderer! He climbs off his cage and walks into the kitchen and munches on things like the laundry baskets! But the funniest little fetish he has going on right now is chewing on shoes! He barks, too! He's always barked but now that he is chewing on shoes we can officially say he's a dog in birds clothing! LOL!
Seriously though, I've got to figure out away to get him to stop or we won't have any shoes left.
We are currently doing a lot of remodeling in the house. Once that is done, I hope to have 3 rooms with perches in them so I can keep an eye on him where ever I am! I just don't want him to chew the wrong thing and be the end of my little Quincy! :(
I don't leave him alone for long anymore now because of his new wandering habbit.

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Wandering about...yup typical grey ;)
Even in the wild they spend a lot of their time on the floor, so it's natural to them.

Both my CAGs fly very well, but they loooove to get on the floor and just sneak around.
No barking though, they miauw ( and I do not have/had cats *ever* )

Congrats...now grow an extra pair of eyes in the back of your head...you are going to need them :)

Yup and yup. We have to put our shoes in another room behind a closed door. Our grey especially loves flip flops and sandals. He goes out on seek and destroy missions regularly.

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
So my little Quincy has started a new troubling habbit. He has become a wanderer! He climbs off his cage and walks into the kitchen and munches on things like the laundry baskets! But the funniest little fetish he has going on right now is chewing on shoes!
Quincy has the right to chew on anything and everything, thats his job!
He barks, too! He's always barked but now that he is chewing on shoes we can officially say he's a dog in birds clothing! LOL!
Seriously though, I've got to figure out away to get him to stop or we won't have any shoes left.
In an earlier life, Enzo used to sit on the back of one of the owners dogs and enzo would bark..
The only way I can stop Enzo chewing everything is to offer her things to chew on, she destroys softer wood toys in seconds, the harder wood ones she ignores and searches out softer targets... She has a draw in the kitchen which is hers, she scratches in there and demolishes any thing that gets put in there, or simply throws things she doesnt like out. Not great but at least I get to know the things she likes to crunch, at the moment its wooden coasters...
We are currently doing a lot of remodeling in the house. Once that is done, I hope to have 3 rooms with perches in them so I can keep an eye on him where ever I am! I just don't want him to chew the wrong thing and be the end of my little Quincy! :(

If i was remodelling my house id have church style arched doorways or even lord of the ring hobbit style round doors, id have a cast iron banister and stair case and probably a stainless steel kitchen, in the kitchen id have a 'hot' tap so no need for kettles etc (ive been through 4 now!)....... parrot proof, yeah right, she would probably start attacking my shoes at that point lol.
