Of course I went right over to take a wee look.;)

Once he was placed on my wrist, he cuddled right into me for scritches.
he just sat there while I stroked him.
then he promptly have me a good nip on my finger, lol.

I can see why people fall head over heals in love with these gorgeous birds.
what an honour it was today!....and the grip of their feet, WOW!, I also was surprised how heavy they are, they are amazing!

I was a bit surprised he didn't know how to step up, and his feet seemed rather shaky, like he was trying to position himself on my wrist, fumbling around to get it right, the poor thing.

he was 8 weeks of age and still on 2 hand feedings a day, shouldn't he know how to step up by this age, or is it different with larger birds?

How often are they normally fed at 8 weeks?

I really have no clue when it comes to the larger parrots:eek:

the asking price....$2100.00 cdn.

it really made my day:D

Addictive aren't they? It's worse when you get around an older grey with a vocabulary and good manners. A well socialized grey can really wrap itself around your heart strings! The babies? TOOOOO irresistible for me! I'd never have any money (or space in my home). Luckily, the stores around here have stopped carrying baby birds.

Greys are quite heavy for their size. It's the number one reason I never clip a grey. They need full use of their wings in the event they fall. I've heard so many stories about fallen greys breaking their keel bone.

So.... when are you getting one? LOL

They are heavy! Talon is huge, we got him at 3 months and honestly I thought the breeder was just lying to me because he was bigger than any adult grey i'd met. But his eyes were still pure black so you could tell he was still just a little booger bird. They are so sweet and loving birds, talon is a great addition to our family. He's 8 months now.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Baby CAG's are notoriously clumsy... and a bit skittish sometimes.

They seem to acquire their coordination later in life.

It's pretty normal.

I love baby African greys! They are so cute! I have had the opportunity to buy an African grey 5 years ago. He was, and still is, so cute! But he was 3 months old. They're so adorable. But seriously, it has been the best investment. They become best friends and an integral part of your family in record time! Hehe. They're so funny and they love to interact with you and your family. Almost 6 years later still best friends. I don't recommend parrots to everyone though. Because they require a lot of work. I am lucky enough to work near home and have flexible hours. I know someone who has a parrot that hardly even leaves his cage and has one toy there. And bad food. :-(

Your experience makes me even more eager to get my baby! He's 8 1/2 weeks old, so he still needs a few more weeks to wean before we get him. I already have his cage and toys all ready to go!

Greys are amazing they really become part of the family...and yeah baby greys aren't good stepper-uppers. We got talon at 3 months and he wasn't a good percher or stepper upper for a couple more weeks, although he could do both.
