Hello fellow AG parronts!

I'm working with my local avian rescue to find a perfect match for me and one of their AG, and I think I found him! His feathers are split and short on one side but he immediately began to chatter at me when we met - it was a lovely conversation ;)

Anywhoooo if I decide to move forward with this lil guy they'll bring him over to the house (that's where the house inspection happens) and make sure I am who I say I am. What I'd like to ask you guys is what day should I do this?

Because Greys thrive on schedules and consistency, part of me says to do it on a Sunday so I can go into work the next day because that is going to be our schedule, but at the same time, I want to spend time with him!! :D I also thought about taking a few days off work, or working from home, but I'm worried that will give him the wrong impression that I'm home all the time.

Tell me about your bringing home baby situations - thanks!

I would bring him home when you have a couple of days off like a week end. It will be a big adjustment for him to change living situations and for him to be alone in a strange place with no flock the whole day will be more stressful.

Being with him a couple of days, he will most likely observe you, his toys, new cage etc... And will know that this strange place is safe. Once you're back to work, he will then explore his cage, toys etc until you get back.

This is what I would do, just my opinion.

Echo - no that sounds great! I considered taking a few days off so we'd have 4 days together, but you're right I think I'll take Friday off and have them bring him on a Friday and he can stay with me all weekend

I was experiencing the same dilemma. I am bringing home my yellow-sided green cheek Friday. I had the chance this past Sunday, but I was conflicted since I had to go to work the next Monday and didn't want him home alone all day stressing out. So as hard as it was for me to wait, I did because I only want the best for him!

Good luck on the home inspection!
