Hi, I have a 1 and half year old Congo African grey. At 7months old he took a plunge off his cage and split his breast slightly open. I nurtured him back to health and it healed perfectly. However since then he's turned into a fearful and overly sensitive bird. Doesn't like a lot of things bath time , most toys, gets upset even if u just tell him "No dont bite my furniture" . He started plucking his feathers I nurturted him back to health and again and again . He keeps goin back to plucking his feathers even though everyone is being super sweet to him no reprimanding , always making outside time as well as play time (which hes also not really that interested in) bathing him twice a week. I dont know what to do anymore because in the next month there'll be a few changes (I heard that changes their behaviour) so im worried . Im too scared to even take him to the avian vet because its quite a long drive for him and will stress him out. Could I jus take him to a normal vet which is just around the corner? What advice can u give me to help him out abit? Am I allowed to bath him anythin to make him a calmer bird or somethin to keep his feathers n skin healthy?

An avian vet is better but since that's a problem, you can try this---very good product---

Type in

AVITEC.COM

On the left, look for PLUCKING/SCREAMING---click on it

Third picture from left ( spray and jar in picture) click on it

there's 3 choices
1---premixed bottle
2--small jar, powder in it (8 oz)
3--large jar, powder in it (16 oz)
-------
Get either 8 oz or 16 oz jar with powder in it. Stay away from premixed bottle

1 rounded teaspoon powder to 8 oz room temp water in a sprayer. Heavily soak your bird down once a day. If any remains in the sprayer, use it on any other birds sitting around. Discard what remains at the end of the day.
