I'm curious if one of those heated perches would work. I don't have one, (don't even have my bird yet) but it looks like it might work for the winter months.

Scott: I used the electric perch for Rosie last winter and she spent almost all of her cage time on the perch. she loved it.
The perch itself is designed to have various widths and levels of warmth. Rosie spent time on the warmest place which happens to be the smallest diameter of the perch. Consequently she got pressure sores on the bottom of her feet. The vet wrapped the end of the perch with vet tape. Rosie never stood on it again. I will try again this winter coming.

That's disappointing. If she spent all her time there, then she was cold. How do we keep our birds warm enough in the winter? I don't think I could stand having the heat cranked up to 80. Do you use space heaters or something like that?

Rosie was ok with the heat set at 68 in my home after the electric perch was removed. I think she liked having her feet warm then of course we do too in the wintertime. A larger bird than mine would do fine on the perch. Rosie is a small Timneh at 290 gms.
