We got new cordless phones for Christmas, and are using a different ring tone. This morning when I was getting the morning feed prepared, I kept hearing the phone ring, but not the one in the kitchen where I was. I called Reg to tell him we may have to get a new set coz there is something wrong with one of the phones, and everytime I tried to answer there was no one there.
So I finally am ready to do the big birds, and when i get downstairs, the phone rings, and I turn to answer it, and no one is there again. While it is still in my hand, it rings again...from Justice's cage. He has got the sound of the ringer down to a Tee. Changing the ring tone today!
I do not know whether I am more amused or mortified that I did not figure it out sooner..lol.

This made me laugh so hard. Glad you caught the 'culprit' and can hope he doesn't pick up the next ring tone you use lol.

He never copied the other ring tone, must be something about this one he liked! I hope so too, the phone has rung off and on, and I just missed a call coz I thought it was Justice and it was actually the phone...argh...lol.

Tusk does that one... but his favorite is to "ring the doorbell" just to see if he can get someone to run and answer it...

And yes, I have. So has Sarah.

My brother in law was over one day. "Aren't you going to answer the door?"

Then I told him to look at the grin on Tusk's face, and he "got" the joke... You cannot distinguish between Tusk and the actual doorbell.

Sarah jumps for text messages... and don't think that that escaped Tusk's notice either! He messes with her all the time!

Birdie practical jokes!

The doorbell...oh my gosh, that is too funny! Makes me feel better that y'all have fallen for that as well..lol.

It is sad, but I am getting quite used to the birds outsmarting me...

LOL that is too funny Terry! Aleta likes to imitate the beeping on my washer, oven, microwave, and they keyless entry to the door. I never know which appliance is really making the noise!

So far, Justice only does the microwave, and now the phones...I am so glad my washer does not have a beeping sound!

THE BEST PRACTICAL JOKES TUSK EVER PLAYED:

Number 2 - this one was on me...

Tusk was bombarding me with "Wanna go outside?" "Wanna go for a walk?" "Come on Tusk, Let's go outside..."

Hhhmmm... is that some sort of a hint?! :D

But, in those days, I had 11 birds, and they each had to wait there turn. Do things out of order, and chaos ensued... It was a "Rain Man" time for Judge Whopner kind of moment...

So, it wasn't his turn. And when I picked up the conures he knew that I had not been persuaded to take him out first... even though he really wanted to!

SOOOO....

My conures were poop trained. And he tells them USING MY VOICE. To "GO POOP!" And all three of them did. All over me. Big wet once.

He was so pleased with himself that he did his poofy bird dance, and said:

"Gotta clean up the poopy mess!"

YOU TRY NOT TO LAUGH AND REINFORCE THE BEHAVIOR ON THAT ONE, BUT I HAD TO ADMIT, YOU GOT ME GOOD THAT TIME TUSK!!!

Best Practical Joke No. 1 - BEST OF ALL TIME AT LEAST IN MY HOUSE - AND AGAIN IT WAS TUSK. (I know. Go figure, right?!)

Sarah is upstairs. I'm downstairs. Tusk - out of the blue - blurts out in my voice at the very top of his lungs:

"SARAH! SARAH, YOU GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW...!! SARAH!"

I don't remember the context he picked that up in, but, she is a teenager, so... yeah, it happens.

SARAH - DRIPPING WET, WRAPPED ONLY IN A TOWEL AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS APPEARS...

"Daaaad! What is it now?! I'm trying to take a shower..."

"Sarah, I didn't call you. And you're dripping all over the carpet."

"Yes. You did! You told me to get my butt down here, right now, and I'm trying to take a shower..."

At that point, I just pointed to the bird with the big old birdie smile, doing his poofy bird dance at the top of the big playstand.

She rolled her eyes, and went back upstairs... :p

A few weeks ago, I spend several hours trying to figure out which of our many smoke detectors had the bad battery. It's very hard to tell where the loud, piercing "BEEP" is coming from, and it only happens every 45 seconds (I timed it).

Eventually, I got to the one directly above Reno (our newest arrival/rescue CAG), got up on the ladder, and heard the beep...below me...and realized he was the culprit.

At that moment, I looked down at the little brat and said "Was that YOU?", and he replied "Want a cookie, Reno!" I swear, he was laughing at me. During the entire episode, he didn't make a single other sound (he's normally quite chatty, and his speech is incredibly clear and non-parrot-voiced) that would have made me tumble to his game.

Truly Machiavellian, these guys!

One of my favorite CAG stories was actually a friend of mine in SF.

Her bird was FAT! And Dr. Speers put the bird on a diet. One of the things the bird was not allowed to eat was corn on the cob... which it had, to this point, gobbled up daily.

My friend Carol used to nuke it in the microwave for the bird.

So, when the bird started his diet, and the treat cup arrived with no corn in it...

"BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. The Corn's ready! Beep. Beep. Beep. Want corn."

Terry, Justice is getting to be a real comedian, isn't he? It's obvious he loves his new home and lifestyle. I'm so happy he found you!

LOLOLOLOL oh Terry, I'm sorry but I was laughing so hard- hopefully you can find a ring tone he won't copy [emoji51]

Our washer and dryer has this long musical tone at the end of each cycle- I would be quite impressed if a bird copied the whole thing lol Chili has no interest in electronic sounds though...

Good thing you didn't exchange the phones lol! It's amazing how clear Greys can do sounds and voices. Robin does a lot of sounds, but it sounds like a bird doing it lol.

Allee, I am so glad that we found Justice. He is such an amazing guy, and it hurts my heart to think that he was disliked in his former home.

Julie, he is the only one of our guys who imitates sounds. Reg said that last night he was doing the ringing phone, then said hello, than did the microwave sound. Reg said don't you hate it when the microwave interrupts your calls?lol

Hahahahahaha! High comedy, Terry! Justice is hilarious!

Maya is the one who messes with me in my house. One day my wife went out to do some grocery shopping while I was doing some work upstairs. Well, after 5 minutes I hear her calling out to Maya in the sweet tone she uses when she's about to give her a treat.

I figured she'd forgotten something, which was all for the best since I'd forgotten to tell her something.

I called out to her, but she apparently wasn't hearing me. Just kept talking to Maya. Sigh.

So I went downstairs to the family room and, of course, Aida was nowhere to be found. But there was Maya, calling out her own name, sweet as can be. Smh.

LOLOL @ Maya! It's amazing that she has already picked up your wife's voice:) Did you give sweet Maya a treat like her Mommy would have?
Do you think that after they get us like this that they then have a good laugh at our expense with each other?
