Sad news for Willow's parents

I was contacted by Willow's parronts. It turns out that Willow's parront-dad is very ill, life threatening ill. They are saying that even with aggressive treatment his long term prognosis is not good.:(

They are very concerned with the treatments he will need and the expense (even after insurance) that Willow will be neglected and not get the time she needs so she gave me a couple options #1 Let them place ads and then allow people to come to my house to meet her or #2 that I could pay them what they paid for her minus what I was going to charge them for hand feeding her and then she would be mine to keep or find a home for at my discretion.

I do not want people coming to my house to look at a still hand feeding baby so that is NOT an option. I also told her I wouldn't feel right charging them now for hand feeding a bird that is going to stay with me. I am not that kind of person and that wouldn't feel right to me. I agreed to pay them what they paid for her as long as they turn over all paperwork, shots and test records and that they sign her over in full to me. I am a cautious person after getting hosed too many times in my life by not having things in writing and signed by both parties.

She is an exceptional baby grey, over the years I have fed many but she is a special little girl so Willow will be well loved staying right where she is.

:( That is so sad for the family. I guess you are now the proud new mommy of a beautiful baby CAG huh? She sure is an adorable little thing. I totally would be 100% sure to do everything legal to make her "yours" though to make sure they can't just come back and take her once she's weaned and leave you out the money and time weaning her.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I feel for them.

Are you going to be okay? I know your health has been an issue, so I'd hate to see you do anything to jeopardize that since it's been an issue in the past.

On the bright side she's gorgeous and I love the name. Greys are fantastic birds! Congrats!

Thanks for being concerned Karen, yes we seem to have finally gotten to the root of my health issues and my new amazing doc has come up with a regimen that has gotten me back to feeling completely 100% better. My docs before this one were useless...he has been able to use the right tests to FINALLY come up with the actions and plans I needed to make to being healthy again.

Aww, she is such a beautiful baby! I know she could not have found a better home. It is truly amazing how things works out to put an animal where they are supposed to be. I feel sorry for her previous owners and hope everything works out well for him. But congrats on your new baby girl! [emoji4]

I'm so sorry to hear about Willow's dad, heartbreaking. I have to give the couple a lot of credit for making the decision to give Willow the chance at a wonderful life.

Laura, it's hard to find words to say how happy I am for you and Willow. After all that you've been through, I know adopting Willow couldn't have come at a better time.

I love your baby grey's name. I can't help but notice the similarities between the tree she was named for and the character of her new mom. The ability to bend and not to break is one we should all strive for.

I am SO glad you found this awesome pulmonologist, Laura! You've been like night and day! I was quite worried about you for a while, and had the hardest time understanding you sometimes, but all that has now finally completely changed! :D

I'm very sorry to hear of the man's prognosis :(. Heartbreaking for the family, then the added disappointment about the bird.

However, I'm so glad to hear that your new specialist is a good one, and has the right plan for you. Awesome news that you can keep Willow :)! It was meant to be I believe.

I was wondering too, but didn't want to bring it up.

I'm so glad to hear you found a doctor who was able to help you! While it is very sad for Willow's original family, it sounds like she was meant to be with you:)

So sorry to hear that Willow's family will be unable to take her! That has to be extremely hard, there's always the excitement of bringing a new flock member home and they must be feeling devastated at this turn of events.

At least Willow will be able to stay with you! She's a beautiful grey, looking forward to pictures of her as she grows up!

Yay!!! SO glad you're feeling better Laura!!!!

Since I wasn't around to know you were having health issues, I'll just say congrats on your new baby and also great that your health isn't an issue. It can be very frustrating and heartbreaking.

I am with Doublete here...even though we don't know each other, I am happy to hear your new Doc has the right plan for you,and you are feeling better :)

My heart also goes out to Willows Dad. He/They must be heart broken knowing they can't give Willow the proper care at this time. I will say a prayer for him,and you, that things turn out on a positive note.

I know from first hand,on how health issues can suck, not only for the person, and their family, but any creatures involved :-(

I just recently adopted Jonesy,a Goffins, from a friend who is going thru health issues at this moment. It broke his heart, giving Jonesy up to me,after having him for over 21 years. But he knows I am a good guy,and I love my little feathered friends with all my heart.
After loosing my Smokey just a few short weeks ago, after 27 years,he knew how devastated I was,and how devoted I am to my buddies. He was ok with me adopting Jonesy and is happy to know that Jonesy is doing unbelievably well with me and Amy.

Please know that you are not alone, and I,as well as all the humans on this wonderful forum wish and pray for you,to make a quick and complete recovery.

And by the way...Willow is one beautiful girl! You are very lucky to have such a gorgeous CAG!

Jim
