I got a Timneh African Grey today! Her name is Zoyyie (Zoey) but she likes to be called Zo Zo. She is very well mannered and will step up to anyone. She has never been around barking dogs, so she bit me as soon as I brought her in, but I forgive her! My boyfriend can pet her all over, and hopefully I will be able to do the same when she gets used to me. She will be a welcome member to my family. She is 3 years old and was hand raised by her previous owner. I am keeping in touch with her because she loves Zo Zo so much but is never home to see her. Any tips I should keep in mind?

Welcome and I know you will enjoy ZO ZO. Timnehs are very sweet and smart too. My Rosie is now about 16 months old and picking up words and sentences now. Her latest is "what are you doing?" which I said to her often but not trying to teach her to say this. She is an expert in mimicing sounds like my sneeze.
We would love to see some photos when you get the chance. I have some photos of her in my album if you would care to see her.

Congrat's in joining an awesome forum, great fun loving members, always ready for a good laugh, happy to share their experiences, and willing to assist whenever possible.
African Grey's, Congo and Timnehs, are extremely intelligent and entertaining birds.
I am sure Zo Zo will give you many hours of pleasure.
Give Zo Zo time to settle in, getting used to all her "new" family members, including the enviroment, so much for her to absorb. Sit near the cage, talking and singing to her, they love to interact with humans. Talk as much as possible to her, telling her what you are doing, where you going, what you are cooking, everything, they listen and learn all the time, Sure she is talking already, if so say the words she is familiar with to start off with.
I have an AG Mishka, who is almost 3 years old. :grey: is a 24/7 chatterbox, who loves learning tricks and clowns around constantly. Mishka is a wonderful companion, I could not imagine my life without her.
Get the :pic: rolling, we love sharing pictures.
Enjoy Zo Zo, your life is about to change forever, a wonderful change.

I spent THE ENTIRE DAY talking and singing to her and whistling and everything I could think of. She will step up to me and sit on my shoulder and everything. But as soon as I walked into another room to show my parents, she started biting me and over and over until I got somewhere that I could get her off of me. Then she tried to fly and landed on the floor. She stepped up for me and I took her to her cage and started to put her in and she bit my finger. My boyfriend can do anything he wants with her and only saw her for a couple hours. She doesn't even ask like she wants to bite him. Her previous owner was a short woman, like me. My boyfriend is 6 foot 6 inches! I'm so confused as to why she is so partial to him but doesn't like me a bit. Either way I have some pretty ugly looking battle wounds that are very painful. Nothing compared to a Macaw bite, but OUCH!
