YAY!!! I call it the cone of shame. I'm glad your baby got to lose it. Will the normal nightly routine continue? My Venus is always climbing around my Buddy's cage so I keep an eye on both of them. Looking at the pictures, WOW! That bandage is major. Poor baby, talk about a tantrum by your other baby.

Years ago, my cockatiel Sam had to wear one when I came home and found blood on her and all over her cage. I had just gotten home from a day of work and found her that way. I took her to the ER vet and they said she had a blood feather.

For those that don't know what a blood feather is, it's a "live" feather, meaning a feather still attached to a blood vessel where the feather shaft is broken. The blood vessel being still attached then continues to flow blood and the broken shaft allows blood to continue to flow freely, hence the blood everywhere. The vet pulled the broken shaft and that halted the flow of blood. Sam broke the shaft so they put a cone on her to keep her from picking at the feather.

Me being the loving Parront I am died laughing at the ER Vet's office when they brought Sam to me wearing a purple collar, aka the purple cone of shame.

Yay :D I'm so glad to hear Quincy is all better and no more cone! What a little trooper. He was probably getting comfortable with having the collar ON by now! He was such a good boy that he even left the yellow bandage on without the cone in those pics... how long did that last? With my boys it wouldn't have been long enough to take the pic lol.

Griffin had the same sort of experience with Robin (similar species and size). Now he only has 6 nails to cut! He got a cone once, but he had it for less than 2 days and told me in no uncertain terms he will NOT wear one PERIOD. It totally changed his personality and he wouldn't eat, or do anything except obsessively trying to remove it. He tried ALL night long (kept me up listening to it) trying to remove the thing! Thankfully he healed fine without it.

The normal routine will continue with the exception of making sure Quincy is in his cage before I put Savannah in hers! :09:

The bandage was my hubbies handy work. We were trying to slow down the bleeding since it happened on the weekend. We managed to get him to leave it on for 3 hours with supervision. We knew once he went to bed it would come off. But it did help and it did not bleed over night.

Congrats, Quincy! What a brave birdie!

It must be such a relief to get that collar off. Love the photos, he's working hard to catch up on his preening duties.

Thanks Allee! He has been very suspicious when I approach his cage the last couple of days. I think he's afraid I'm going to put it back on. LOL!

He sat on my chair last night and did one of his absolute favorite things. Chewed on a piece of ice. He hasn't really been able to do that without the use of his foot to eat. He was in heaven! :D
