So I'm having trouble I guess weaning the CAG I got back in early June.

You can find the info here old thread

Now he's able to eat solid food. He'll eat the cereal mix that the bird store sells and he eats nuts and fruit at times.

He won't eat his pellets and won't eat his seeds.

I would have to soak the pellets for him for a bit and it's pretty worrying as I'm afraid that if I go out for the day and come back at night he'd starve!

I try leaving just the pellets in the bowl and let him be the entire day. I would still play with him and let him out but he just complains and complains for the warm soaked food.

I don't know if I'm torturing him or if I'm doing the right thing.

Any suggestions?

Google and search through the forums for "Abundance weaning." You should get some good tips from that.

My personal opinion is you're torturing him.

Willow my CAG was hatched Feb 2, 2015 and STILL gets formula in the morning 25cc so not much and 30cc at night. She eats her fresh chop better than just about everybody most days throughout the afternoon then about 4 to 4:30 pm I put in the dry food which is nuts, some high quality seed and a lot of dehydrated veggies and fruits. Her favorite is dried pumpkin and dried carrots.

To me she is still a baby, she looks like an adult she flies like crazy but she still begs for that little bit of comfort feeding in the morning and at night before bed. This mommy will continue to give it to her as long as it seems like she needs it. In the long run they are babies for such a short time, I want her to be happy and not feel rushed or stressed at all over food.:D

Im no expert on weaning, but the fact he is taking other foods is great. Tried soaking the pellets in a little apple juice?? Just enough to soften.. If he goes for that at least he wont starve. Then back off the moisture over a period of time. I would not encourage seeds.. not if he already does not like them. To many other fresh food options.

I had the same problem getting my baby onto pellets I used the orange Harrison's first I used to crush it and mix a bit of water init and fed him by hand he gradually started eating the pellets himself then I switched to the blue Harrison's sounds to me he isn't fully weaned yet
