Nigel starts complaining and throwing everything on the ground. Then, to bed he goes. He eats for a bit then...silence...

Tonight I made the mistake of forgetting it was bedtime, oops. HRH nearly called his guards to take me away to the dungeon! What a protest began when he felt tired and I ignored him.

Yes, your majesty...I apologize...

Loki suspects that if I haven't turned off the lights by the time he is ready for bed that it is clearly because I've lost my hearing. Luckily he is able to get my attention anyhow....

Here's something odd that I have always wondered... is the Rickeybird the only parrot who does NOT tuck his head? He sleeps with it kind of inclining backwards. Sometimes his beak is slightly open.

You know it's bedtime when........... well you never know because Daddy falls asleep first, and when he wakes up , Salty is still sittin' the on his sleeping perch, staring right back at me. Generally he goes to bed at 10 pm and gets woken up around 10 by Geri.
Near as we can tell , he doesn't tuck his head in either.

I know its bedtime for my grey when he starts doing the creepy sleepy blinking. Where he blinks 1 eye at a time extremely slowly...Thats when I know he is burned out.

Maya (Female Solomon Island eclectus parrot), Jolly (Male Solomon Island eclectus parrot), Bixby (Male, red-sided eclectus. RIP), Suzie (Male cockatiel. RIP)
When it's time for bed, Jolly will fly to his cage if he's on his stand, or just nod off right there on your hand. Either head tucked backward or just slightly fluffed up with his eyes closed.

Maya can get a bit grumpy and nippy. As for how she sleeps? No idea. In the nearly 2 years I've had her, I've never seen her with her eyes closed. Not once. Even on the very rare occasions I've fallen asleep with them still out on their stands. I've woken at 2 in the morning, only to find her staring intently at me. It's kind of sweet... in a creepy sort of way. Lol!

I literally just assume that she sleeps, but I couldn't swear to it under oath.

Harley makes it known that it's bedtime by climbing the front wall of his cage, and saying Good Night in a female voice, (not mine) and then a male voice saying goodnight ( not my husbands). This will continue until we turn out the lights and let him be! He tucks his head to sleep during the day at nap time, but never (that I've seen) at night.

Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
When Perjo sits on her perch and does beak graunch OR the more entertaining approach, when I turn off the TV she start dong her upside crawl across the top of her cage until a specific moment in which I get at the lamps near her cage and reach to turn them off. The reach is very important in the timing of this. If I don't reach for the light she will continue her bat like crawl around the top of the cage. Then when the final light is off, she settles into her swing perch and awaits the blanket to give her cover for the night.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
ET my TAG will generally say "goodnight" when the blinds are shut around sundown and the lights are turned off.

"Good night" or "Good night ET." :)

I think one of us should fly around the country/world video-ing all these.
We could make a compilation for YouTube, and go viral!
