Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
I heard some finches making their nightly song in the arborvitae next door, then out of nowhere saw a hawk jump from one bush into the next one only to see the hawk fly off with one of the finches.

Sad.

Ten minutes earlier I had Perjo outside in her cage for a bath. A not so friendly reminder to NEVER take the chance and let her out with out a harness even to go 5 feet back into the house. I live in the city, close to the Metroparks, so hawks aren't a part of everyday life, but they aren't far off.

Two green cheek conures, one sun conure, and two quakers.
I took my two conures outside on my shoulders off and on until I saw a hawk land in a tree in my yard. I live in a suburb (I never thought so until I read the definition - it's more country) & we have a wildlife refuge within a block from my house & I see hawks flying a lot so I knew it was a possibility but I was still pretty shocked to see it in my tree! I saw it soaring (maybe not the same one) within the next few days. I stopped taking my birds outside with me for awhile but now I have a couple of times but I can't relax. Such a sad thing to have happen. Your bird is very fortunate.

A local rescue, a woman walking in with a parrot on her shoulder. A hawk took her baby!

NO FRIGGIN' WAY!!! OMG those bastiids!!!

Except for my married years, I have lived in this house all my life..I guess you can call it "the 'burbs"...I can go two miles one way and be in town..Three miles the other way and be where all the stores, car dealerships, banks etc are...and go less than two miles another way and be in the back roads with farm land <whats left of them> and resevoirs and wineries etc.

I know I mentioned this before, but one day in the spring Arleen and I were outside and there was a HAWK sitting on my neighbors chimney and we watched as he flew and landed in the bushes, just three feet from the front door of the lady across the street from me..and Louise usually has one of her poodles outside on the porch next to the bushes..this time "fluffy" was inside.
Then just a few days afterwards Arleen heard a big BANG at my front windows...she went to the front door to see that HAWK in one of the bushes trying to grab a poor little sparrow for lunch!! Arleen yelled out HEY!! YOU LEAVE THAT SPARROW ALONE!! and it took off..a few days later I look across the street into the cemetery and there is a very large tree standing alone, and there were TWO hawks perched there.

NEVER saw hawks here before..now I think and look twice when I take Amy outside to walk in the grass, even though she is just feet away from me.
