The fresh veggies is that for all greys or just the congos.I tried kale, peppers, snap peas, broccoli, celery no strings, corn, mixed veggies. she'll have no part of them. Seems like she likes the dehydrated peas only none of the other dehydrated veggies, as far as fruits, she likes seedless grapes and strawberries, watermelon,
She is on pretty bird pellet food and occasionally a seed stick hanging and the bird mix she'll only eat the sunflower throws all the other mix out and seed balls as a treat only. Should I really push the fresh fruit and veggies? Gracie is only 15 months old
Thanks
Jeff

Smokey my TAG ate NOTHING good ...not until Amy came along. Then when Smokes saw Amy noshing on EVERYTHING,she tried..then there was no stopping her lol.

I found that Smokey really enjoyed sweet peas..sweet corn ( of course they had to be warm ) also pineapple chunks and banana..chicken leg bones too were also a hit. A small piece of cheese.
Greys in general can be very picky! Try eating in front of Gracie, she may be curious and help you with your lunch.
I have found that BB, the 'Tiel, won't eat his nummys if I put them in his bowl, but if I eat my lunch at my computer and he is with me,he'll hop of my shoulder and sample from my plate
Social birds they are..don't wanna eat alone, yanno?? lol

They are all different. Just keep trying, buy smallest packages of new stuff to try to save some money. Have you tried flaxseeds? I put them on certain veggies and she'll eat the veggie b/c it has the flaxseed on it.

Stick with it.

Have you tried chopping them different ways? My CAG loves his food any old way, but for the rest of the flock, some like it in small pieces, some like it almost minced it's so small, and some like it big enough to hold.
Have you tried to make any birdie bread? Most birds love it and it's a great way to hide veggies so they will eat them.
Whatever you do, never give up...I had a bird finally start eating her chop after 2 years of ignoring it:)

Haha! Don't you know he must think chicken bones are radioactive? Nigel won't go near chicken bones either. Today I gave him an orange cut differently than his usual way...wouldn't touch it. Silly boy... Had to replace it with another dish of things cut up as usual.

Yes. I am Nigel's loyal human servant.

My greys seem to love veggies for a time then hate the same ones later.

Snap peas and corn seem to be favorites, sometimes red peppers, slightly cooked (microwaved) broccoli. I don't know. I'm just glad they eat pellets too.

Good luck, just keep trying.

Funny thing about Amy..even though she does get a bowl of seed  she does love her nummy bowl. Every morning, she sits patiently, while daddy is in the kitchen fixin' up their brekky.

If I am late with it,she has gone as far as putting her head in the bowl and yell ' FOOD!...FOOD!" then histerically laugh at the sound of her voice echoing in the bowl ( and also telling me she is hungry!)

The big veggies..i.e. peppers, cauliflower, brocolli, I leave big enough for her to hold in her hand..slices of apples, oranges, and 'nana also.
Not much I can do about peas and corn, green beans, lima beans (ICK!)

Beebs still has a problem with his nummys. He will sample only if his plate is at my computer desk, and he only takes a bite of this and that, then casually walks thru the plate :12: then hops on ME!

Goofy won't eat broccoli if it's cut into sticks, but will if it's in disk shaped slices.

My macaw won't eat veggies either. I coat her pasta mix, which she will eat, in baby food. She's getting better at trying new things, but still rejects fresh veggies after a nibble or two. At least with the baby food I know she's getting the nutrients. I also make a birdie bread that's packed with shredded veggies that all the birds gobble up, which sneaks the veggies in the birds without them realizing it.

Have you tried Butternut squash and sweet potato? My thinking is if you can get away with these then others can be added little by little.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Most of mine love sweet potatoes and yams. Various beans such as lima, garbanzo, kidney, and black. Pomegranate and melon seeds are a hit.

Have you tried eating the same foods with Gracie? Parrots are flock eaters and likely consider you a member. If you eat and demonstrably enjoy the food with head-bobbing and a few "ooooooooh" sounds it might make a difference. As Terry posted, never give up! I've had parrots finally try and enjoy something they dissed for years.

All my birds have different favorites, including how they like their veggies/fruit-chopped, whole pieces, smashed, cooked, raw ect. Most of mine did not eat veggies/fruit when I first got them. I just offer every day and eventually they eat it. I only offered tiny amounts at first till t hey eat them, then I up the amount. No need to waste a ton of food. My pickiest girl is Ellie a blue crown conure and we got her to try veggies and fruit by giving her those toddler organic squeeze packs. She now at least tries everything I give her, but it too some time.

We eat a lot of salads, stews and stirfrys here so I usually always have a lot of veggies. I just cut up extra for the birds. I don't add salt to stews till it's served, so I can also give them some cooked foods. I tend to use lots of oregano, rosemary and dried red pepper in my foods which all the birds love and adds more nutrition. Ellie prefers cooked food, where as Foo, our gcc likes raw foods best.

Bean is our newest, a parakeet, just started trying new foods. For several weeks she just looked at the fresh foods suspiciously. Then she started touching them all and throwing them around. Now she's eating things she likes and still tossing what she doesn't.

all our birds are more apt to eat if they get to eat dinner with the humans. Most birds like eat with their flock. Group stuff is always more fun, whether it's eating, bathing, playing ect. :) We will have them eat with us unless we are eating things they can't have, like avocado (a family fave, but dangerous to all the fids)
