Nigel, in an interesting turn, LOVES to be sweet to his servant. Every day, he will rest his beak on my face and say “popcorn, popcorn.”

It’s manipulation i tell you, cause he gets his popcorn.

Parrots can all tell the future.... its a defense mechanism in the wild, and a manipulation tool in captivity.

Re: The life and times of Nigel the Great

Breakfast is served.

Every day, Nigel’s favorite meal is breakfast. I take advantage of this and give him lots of veggies, an odd boiled egg with crushed shells, birdie bread with a smattering of fruit.

On today’s menu:

Boiled white sweet potatoes
Green beans (pre cut of course into manageable bits)
Some pasta
Broccoli
A bit of corn on the cob
Fresh granadilla on top

This mornings meal was met with the expected pleasure of HRH. He dove into said breakfast with gusto and now sits happily perched, beak grinding and fluffy.

I predict the condo will be at peace today and Greytown will enjoy their overlord being happy. I.e., no grumpy shenanigans.

Re: The life and times of Nigel the Great

Sir Nigel puts on a good show for his loyal subjects and staff, always looking so regal and showing a "stiff upper beak",having to always be on top of the going's-on in Greytown.
But I am also sure, that there are day's,(such as today) when HRH just mumbles to himself.."when the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligned with Mars, then peace will guide the "kingdom"..a.k.a. planet..and love will fill the stars"..Jolly good show old boy..keep up the good work!

Re: The life and times of Nigel the Great

Mid morning snack was a cauliflower floret and it has been summarily demolished.

I love having a bird that eats...almost anything, unless it is radioactive of course.

Great fit Jim,

Me think; you have been listening to the Oldies, But Goodies, again - a slide down memory lane, if you will! Good for you!

Re: The life and times of Nigel the Great

Sir Nigel is in full on moult and is itchy! I’m giving plenty of baths and mists which helps the itch. It’s a heavy moult which is interesting as it’s not unusual when this happens to lose more than 15 feathers a day.

The staff is running to make sure the bath is warm enough and not in the toilet!

Meals are varied and nutritious fitting for his majesty. Boiled chicken, broccoli, granadilla, zucchini, you name it. The appetite is all good.

And of course the odd popcorn and Rice Krispies.

Re: The life and times of Nigel the Great

Our evening chat where Nigel tells me all about the things that went right and wrong during the day. He chatters for at least an hour.

Then, it’s time for evening snack delivered precisely at 6:30 pm and bed by 7. Otherwise life becomes miserable!!!
