My dad had a major heart attack and I had to fly out to Texas to be with him. I was gone for 2 weeks. Luckily, my youngest daughter and Jasper had started to build a friendship. Apparently while I was gone, Jasper learned how to play to joke on two of my daughters. When they were in their room, he would say Hello over and over again pausing at the right moments. They thought someone was at the front door so they went to check. When they opened the door, Jasper would laugh. I haven't heard him do it since I've been back home. Pretty smart!

Oh, they're jokers, alright! I swear, they have a Machiavellian sense of humor! One day, I heard the sound of a smoke detector with a failing battery (you know, a short piercing "beep!", every 45 seconds or so?). That sound is almost impossible to locate, so you have to go around to every detector and check it. We have 10 of them, so it takes a while. Eventually, after going through all but one (the one over Reno's cage and, due to the vaulted, 14' ceiling over him, the hardest one to check) and finding them all fine, I got a stepladder to do the one above Reno. As I was reaching way, waaay up, he gave one final "beep!", right beside me, and then he laughed. Loud.

I had wasted a full hour checking all those detectors, and he kept making that sound, perfectly, every 45 seconds, for the entire time.

It was a one-time joke, apparently - he only did it once. I guess that was enough!

My grey played a joke on us by making the sound of someone knocking on the door. Late at night when you would not expect a knock on the door.
I have read that they have a sense of humor.
