African grey Congo (charlie)
It's been a long time since i have posted here, but i figured I'd share what my life has been like since we brought charlie home about 6 months ago. He is not quite a year old and he is such the sweetest most carefree grey. Since day one he took up quickly to me and my girls. He is finally starting to say a few things. He has mastered peek a boo and whatcha doin. What i find fascinating is how fearless he is. Nothing scares this bird. Not my dogs, new people, new toys, nothing. I was worried my crazy house would be a bad fit for a congo, but he was never phased by any of it. I don't know if i just got lucky or what because during my research all i read was how timid and sensitive they are, but he is quite the opposite. At first the evil vacuum was terrifying for him. But we worked on it and now he could care less. Has anyone else had a grey like this? He likes to climb up on my shoulder or chest every night and cuddle with me. My experience is nothing like i expected based on all the research. And i mean that in a good way. I know he is still young and as he matures he will test and push me no doubt. But for now, my experience has been more than rewarding.

Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
My Perjo is fine with a vacuum, has been from day one which is strange to me b/c she is very apprehensive about many toys that I present to here. She's even in retreat when I bust out her soft sided travel cage which she has actually been in once already. She'll sit on my chest from time to time but also is borderline skiddish about certain things in the home and slight changes I make to her living area.

I probably need to get her around more people more often to help get her used to a degree of chaos.

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Smokey was pretty fearless also..When I'd be vacuuming up her mess, she'd sit on her roof as I vacuumed around her house and make very sharp "chirps" and loud "woo's" and run around her roof top as I vac'd around her house...I think she was telling the hosed monster off lol..it was funny.

Oh thanks for this news! I love greys. Nigel sounds similar. Fearless, except if it's a scarf around my neck! Go figure. He warms up quickly to people and experiences. Greys are great!

Well, obviously he thinks you are too dim-witted to recognize that you are being choked to death by a DEADLY SNAKE.

My adopted CAG Scooter is a rather nervous girl, but surprisingly, the vacuum cleaner doesn't bother her at all. She usually gives voice to a variety of household noises while I'm running the vacuum. It's very nice for you that Charlie is so fearless, and so cuddly too. :)

African Grey Timneh
My Timneh could care less about the vacuum and loves her cuddle time with her pops at night. Also un phased by my dogs who are old and slow but still have made friends. Timneh feeds them and they give timneh space. Some people are accepted readily others not at all, she seems to know who is afraid and who is curious. When it comes to toys though most of the larger ones are pretty scary for a while, the last three toys are a strike out. One toy she didnt touch for a month now its her favorite perch.
