This morning Buzz ventured out of his cage on his own, YAY! He's spent the last two hours trying to decide if he is going to get off his cage and explore or not. He's back and forth, will stretch his wings and put them down, repeat, lol. I think it's safe to say he can fly, look at that wing!

If he is a seasoned flier he would be well able to fly with that many Wing feathers in place. But, if he has gotten use to his staff carrying him from location to location. Well that is a different story, hey Staff, I'm displaying here for a ride, complete you're responsibility! :D

If he is a passive flier, it more likely a point of not being sure that his Wings will support him or not. If so, its a process of building confidences in his Wings to support him.

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
Wonderful progress and very proud mom!

At least if he doesn't fly he is getting some exercise and every little helps. Presuming that this will help with building the muscles for strong flight?

Hope his maiden voyage is a safe one!

Well now Buzz is lost, on his cage. He slept out of his cage on his play top. I did not force him back in because we are at a milestone, and this is an opportunity to build more trust. I've been able to place my hands close to him, move about him closely without him spooking. He has water his play top. but I cut back on his food. To explain I put half his breakfast inside his cage on his dish. I placed a dish with the other half on top with him and he ate it but he's been eyeballing the food dish. I just now served treats, half in his food dish inside his cage, the other half in his new foraging toy and it is hanging in his open cage door with hopes to lead him to the cage door. He's working on figuring this out with breaks with his wood blocks, balls, bells and his new phone book. I'm hoping he figures out how to go back in his cage by himself. We are making progress and I don't want to break our new trust.

He is doing GREAT! Over the last few days he's been in and out of his cage. Food and water stay inside his cage now and while he gets lost outside his cage he's been learning. Two nights ago he put himself to bed inside his cage. I've kept toys and activities on his play top and he stays busy.

Now he's doing what Perjo did, climbing to the highest perch and looking down on me. I'm keeping an eye on his behavior hoping I don't have to do positive behavior reinforcement. Each day I've been doing activities with him where he has to interact with my hands. He has been coming to the edge of the play top to take things from me and is getting more comfortable, more relaxed with me. Baby steps but great progress.

Here he is having a block party lol.
