Chicco's Plumage

Sponsored Links
Hello,

Hi there, just wanted to see what you guys think of Chicco's feathers. I received him yesterday from what seemed to be a loving home ( he was very relaxed chilling on his stand away from his cage ) and was the first and only bird they have had.

He is around 4 years old and they had him for about 2 years.

They expressed how crazy he can be with his toys and how much he loves to make a mess having baths everyday apparently so while I was viewing him I told myself this was the reason for the condition of his feathers.

While this could be the case maybe in combination with a current molt in progress I have become slightly worried of the possibility of PBFD particularly because I am interested in getting another bird at some point in my life and obviously well expect to have Chicco still.

I am obviously arranging a health check from an avian vet for advice however I'm sure you can understand I really wouldn't like to start off with my first larger parrot being sick and unwell.

As you can see he is already quite comfortable and confident enough to come outside of his cage on his own accord after only his first night.

And advice and opinions are gratefully appreciated.

Curtis

I can't say, the vet visit will answer questions! Cags are wonderful.

Re: Chicco's Plumage

The vet will shed light on if it's an illness.

To me it looks like he's backed his butt into a corner and messed his tail feathers up a bit, or in just generally knocked his feathers out a bit. Doesn't look worrying to me but the vet visit wont hurt and you'll be able to get a rapport going with the vet

Good luck! He looks like a very nice happy bird!

Re: Chicco's Plumage

Thank you both for the advice!

I am a worrier when it comes to my pets I love them all so much which is one reason I decided to get a larger parrot due to their life expectancy and don't think I could handle having a sick bird after all the time developing a bond.

I am currently waiting for the vet to contact me to arrange an appointment.
