Well. I was going to make a long and involved post but I think I will keep it short and sweet.
Just the facts.

Steam cleaner arrived earlier than expected.
First I used a high pressure washer with Dawn soap and sprayed the whole cage down. Also removed the old wooden perch.

Then I used the steam cleaner on all surfaces of the cage.
I have my doubts how effective this is. On a flat solid surface it would do wonders. On bars the steam just goes around the bars without doing much.

Wooden toys and rope were thrown away and the plastic chain and plastic ball I soaked in hot water with Dawn and also ran the steam cleaner over.

I don't quite have the cage set up the way I really want it but Bella is accepting it.

Getting her to accept something so new is a MAJOR milestone.
I have a pic but I want to wait till I have everything just right.

Using the steam cleaner outside in near 100ºF temp kinda wrung me out.

Hope to update with a picture tomorrow.

Does your steam cleaner have a little brush attachment? That's what I use to do the grates. Works great for me.

Lots of attachments. I use a triangular ting with brushes all around.

The small round one would have been more effective but I would still be out there doing it.

Pictures tomorrow. I need to fix the main perch.

I steam clean everything thoroughly usually twice a week when Syd is asleep in his sleep cage.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Cage looks magically like new! Greys famously resist change, so doing so gradually as you are is best.

I kept the toys to a minimum till she got use to her new digs.
Just 2 in the photo. I have added one of her favorite from the old cage recently.
She still doesn't want to use the lower perch. I spent $50 dollars for that thing then had to cut it to size.

I know that's how birds are. In our house we have a saying. Birds want to be higher.

She always opts for the tope most perch.

She has to come down and eat sooner or later.

Bella is getting use to it.
