It's not unheard of for a CAG to be a bit upset or confused by the experience of a grooming. Usually with my two yo CAG she's fine after the 20 minute car ride home. I try to do a nail and beak groom on separate trips to the vet. The beak is a worse experience form them, that is a sensation for them that is stressful to the extreme according to my vet. I think his analogy was imagine the sensation of a rough grinding on our teeth and how it seems to reverberate through our whole head.

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
Why did you get his wings clipped? Id imagine taking flight from a bird to be quite traumatic and make the bird insecure, hence more willing to step up for safety.... not sure.

I believe Enzo does her own beak and nails, ive seen her spend a few minutes each week chewing her nails and she is constantly rubbing her beak along things and on her coarse perches.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
It may take a few days for Charlie to return to his normal behavior. Unless something dreadful happened at the vet, this is likely normal Grey behavior.

Is Charlie new to you? Was this the first time you've taken him to the vet for grooming?

Hi I am a little concerned that Charlie needed a beak trim, was it actually an Avian Vet that did this grooming for you. The beak is extremely sensitive and I would do as much as possible that it doesnt need doing again by giving enough rough perches etc for him to keep it trimmed himself. If Charlie's beak and nail growth is very fast then please seek help from your Avian Vet as this a valuable sign that all is not well. My RB2's nails were needing doing every 6/8 weeks for a while and things were not right with him.

What caused that? The little amazon we picked up for the rescue had very long nails, despite a grooming perch.

Quickly growing nails and beak can indicate liver problems. That was actually the first sign we had that there was something not right with Oscar.
