Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
Firstly happy new year to all (birds and peeps alike!), I hope its a great one.

Enzo has had me in stitches again over the last few days, ill get my son to video her when he's around next.

When she is on the kitchen work tops she stretches one leg back, similar to when she stretches, i put one of my fingers to her foot she grabs it then immediately twists herself around onto her back, wings open and legs kicking. I then have to tickle her tummy/chest and wings just as you would tickle a baby. If I move my fingers around her she chases my fingers with her beak. She will do this for about 15s but repeats doing it until she gets tired. Hilarious, again she has me laughing out loud with her antics.

She has enjoyed Christmas immensely, a snap of pastry from a mince pie is her new favourite treat and she also now likes freshly squozen orange juice. She has spent a few days at my GFs new house as well and has been really friendly with all of the new visitors to her house, after 3 days away in her travel cage it was clear she was getting frustrated so I took her home for a night then back to the GFs again. All good :)

The only bad news is her new cage didnt happen as the cage was MUCH larger than described to me and would dominate the room, not to mention the 100kg weight would mean i couldnt take the cage out by myself to jet wash. Ill buy f2f in the coming month or two so I can see exactly what I am buying.

when a bird goes on their back to wrestle it's not only funny but gratifying. It means complete trust....or complete love of mayhem. Either way you win an Internet.

Awesome!
I think she gained my trust within a week of her arriving and she is yet to personally let me down. She certainly lets me know if she is unhappy and i try and accommodate her. Its great to know the trust is mutual :)

Thanks.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Happy New Year to you and Enzo!

So nice to see such a trusting relationship. They really are amazing birds, so playful and intelligent. You are very wise and perceptive to respect her gentleness when ending the play session.

That's awesome, Perjo won't go on her back yet but will play with me when she's upside down. Happy New Year.

Yay a video! I love seeing happy spoiled parrots. It makes my day good work.

Ill get a better one for you, as i said that was quite forced on her as she doesn't really play unless i'm alone with her and she wasn't really in the mood for playing i think. Notice the last second she shakes her head, shes been doing that a lot recently....i haven't got a clue what it means but i *think* its an excitement release thing as she does it when we interact a lot.

As for spoilt, yep, definitely i'm a total softy when it comes to birds or my kids....

Mushka shakes her head like that too. I think it is just something she does occasionally as it doesn't seem to be linked to anything I can see. I understand, Mushka's best antics always seem to stop when I reach for a camera. Still it's great to see your relationship with Enzo.

It seems Enzo has another new game, its taken a week or so to perfect it though.

The one thing that I really do not like is she LOVES to chew the wooden door frames, all of them! I now close the doors around the house but occasionally I forget and she flies up to the top of the door and makes a dash for the door frame with her scissor beak. As soon as I realise ill shout her name and she will often reply...'no!', so she knows she is doing wrong. If she doesn't stop ill walk over and hold a finger up to her as you would a child when telling them off.
Now, she fluffs up and makes herself as tall as she can go (CAGs stretched fluffy legs look so funny) she huffs and puffs and lunges at my finger with her beak, without biting. If i move my finger around she will continually 'play fight' with it by going tall then lunging, again huffing, puffing and shaking her tail feathers. There really is no aggression in her doing this (thankfully) and im now sure she chews things she shouldn't just so she can have a play fight. Again, ill try and get my son to video her doing this.

She now does this when perching on cupboard doors, so any time she is higher than me really.

She is definitely excited as she always shakes her tail feathers when she is enjoying herself.

She's learned a new game...

When she is on the top of a door my son goes up to her and crouches down, he will then jump up and say 'peekaboo' then crouch down again. Now Enzo will drop backwards off the door hanging on by her front toes then pull her self back up. She hasnt said peekaboo yet but i suppose that will be next.

The crazy thing is she was practising on her rope tower yesterday and when she threw herself back she lost grip on the rope and fell, thankfully i was right next to her and saw it happen and i threw my hand out and caught her....silly girl, that could have been nasty!

So cool. Perjo plays recklessly in her cage too much for my liking, and when she's in a molt she tends to struggle to fly sometimes and falls once in a while. When she plays upside down I laugh but get nervous.

Love that vid!

The Rb loved to play on his back until he became a rooster, at which point he realized I was his hen, and... and I guess macho roosters do not let their hens tickle their bellies.

More videos, please. That was great!
