So I just bought this baby grey, hes almost 40 days now. All good except I noticed these lines under his beak, are they normal? Looks like beak is forming.

can you upload a picture of what you mean?

Beaks are pretty much the same as our nails, so it could just be from the beak being worn in places (this is very normal and supposed to happen) or flaking (again very normal)

Without pictures it is difficult to tell. But it sounds like it could be natural growth patterns. I would definitely recommend a visit to an Avian vet though!

Yes, a picture would be very helpful, and 40 days is really young. That bird should still be receiving several hand feedings throughout the day, are you doing that? If you aren't able to do that, or are not experienced in doing so, you should get the bird back to the breeder to finish weaning immediately. A grey will normally take several MONTHS to wean.

I have one Umbrella, a Bare Eye, and two budgies.
Please take the bird back to it's breeder so it can be weaned properly! The fact that you would post a thread that depends on 'seeing the bird' without uploading photos, tells me that you are not mature enough for a pet.

If you just brought home a baby Grey, you should already have an Avian Vet appt scheduled.

I agree w/ all that has been said above.

I really hope you know what you're doing, given that from your past posts it seems this is your 3rd baby CAG in the past 2 years.

Please take the baby to the vet, if nothing more so that a professional can assure you that the baby is healthy and not malnourished.

good find CKP

with 2 years, 2 previous baby CAGs and multiple other hand raised birds I really question what you are doing. What happened to the previous babies for starters? This sounds very worrying given the previous info

This is starting to sound a little strange/scary. We care about the welfare of birds and are just worried about your birds health as well as why you have had so many baby greys in the past few years! As far as i know none of us are fully qualified avian vet's and so you should get the full diagnosis from a qualified avian vet. Any new parrot should have a checkout regardless of whether they seem healthy or not. Updates would be appreciated!

As do I, but at this point it is time to stop being ignorant and make sure the little babies get the care they deserve.

Makes my blood boil to imagine what may have happened to baby #1 and baby #2, if there weren't any others before that. Animals deserve more.
