Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
I don't know if this holds true for most CAG owners but Perjo has been an absolute joy at a two year old. She is in what I call exponential learning mode, she picks up on everything and right the heck now. From mimicking sound effects to speaking words or phrases (and most in context).

Terrible twos? If it's a thing I got lucky b/c my baby has not been anything but enjoyable, precious and downright astounding usually.

Her ability to interpret emotion is also noticeable right now, I don't know if it's just me wanting to believe she gets my emotions or not but she seems to react to the mood I'm in. But to be fair I rarely expose any mood to her that isn't approachable and at least moderately pleasant.

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
LOL, they notice everything - but trying to present only the positive is very good of you!

I am smitten with them (always have been, it will probably last).
Glad you are a match!

Right now I have a relatively daft one (Japie) no idea what has happened to him, but he is trusting and fearless and Appie is waaaay to clever (in vocalisations as well as the mecanical side).
They both are the kind of birds that tell me
(happily munching away within minutes of presenting something completely new to them):
"Oh, so you've got us a foraging toy with a steep learning curve.... well, we certainly appreciate the nice packaging around the food, but where is the challenge exactly?"

Although I am a new parrent (5 weeks) to an adopted 25 year old CAG, I am beginning to see signs of them tuned in to our emotions.

Since we are still building on trust (was chomped by him), he gets a little cranky when I don't let him out of his cage. He gets noisy, hyper, etc...

Sunday, I hurt my back pretty bad and when I sit in my chair which is next to his cage, and when I clean his cage, I have been letting out some moans and groans as my back pain kicks in. And since then, he has been like a puppy dog towards me.

He sees me in pain and he lets out a very lonely cry (coo) sound. He usually only does this at bedtime as he knows I will be leaving the room. But now, he sits on his perch seemingly feeling sorry for me.

4 1/2 years old now CAG..got her at 14 weeks...Debbie is still clown! Now almost 4 1/2....never a dull moment!
Awesome! Our 21 month old amazes us most every day....words phrases and antics....her truly craziness is when she’s hanging upside down attacking her toys or reaching back and grabbing her tail all while upside down and screaming! Enjoy your CAG!
