Just had to post this - Reno REALLY loves a warm shower. In the second video, he's pretty much dozed off in there. He always looks SO disappointed when the water's finally shut off!

That is exactly how my Alex goes in the shower. Just loves the water to run over her.

:( I miss Reno SO much! When my wife suddenly left me a few weeks ago (no warning at all) she took him with her. Lord, how I loved that bird!

Oh that's terrible.
Any way to get visitation rights with him?

I don't think so. She won't even tell me where she's living, doesn't answer my calls, blocks my email & posts on social media, etc. She's determined to have a new life without the complications of a house, bills, housework, maintenance, etc. She says she wants to be free, with no responsibilities, no husband, etc.

Strangely, what I miss most about Reno was the way he ALWAYS greeted me when I came in the door, with a cheerful "Hello!", and said "See you later!" every time I went out the door. He NEVER failed to do it. Not once. Now, when I come in, the house is strangely silent. Sure, the rest of the birds squawk and chatter, but no happy greeting from Reno.

Every once in awhile I come across another of his small grey down feathers in the house, and it makes me cry every, single time. It's like grieving, but it doesn't fade away with time.

God, I miss him!:(

You know what's silly and sentimental? The only thing Reno ever did wrong (and he did it every time no one was looking) was to go a ways down the front stairs toward the front door, and stop to chew up the old "barn boards" that cover the entrance way inside the door. He always left a small pile of chewed-off pieces of wood on the stairs.

While I'm having to do all the cleaning and maintenance on the house (and it's quite big, if old), and I've vacuumed the house many times, I still can't bring myself to clean up the last little pile of wood pieces he left on the side of the stairs.

It's literally the only physical reminder that he was ever here....and I just can't remove it. I don't even have one of his big feathers, just bits of down here and there.

I guess I'm just feeling sad & lonely today, looking at "his corner", which was once the source of so much joy, but now sits silent and empty.

I'm so sorry to hear that mh434. That's awful this has happened to you.

Please don't give up yet. Pets by the legal system are considered property. If you can convince a judge that you made a financial investment into Reno, legally she has to give him to you.

I'm no law expert though. My friend was going through a tough time with her boyfriend and he was insistent on keeping her dog. Even though she pays for her. I wish you the best of luck. The video of Reno is very cute.

The other birds have been out of sorts since he left, as he was the "flock leader". His empty arbutus "tree" still stands in the corner where he lived.

Having no other ideas, I located one of the few really good pictures I have of him (he was sitting on his "tree" in the picture), and printed it full-size on heavy, matte card stock. Then, I meticulously cut it out, made a stiffener for the back, and clipped it to the very branch he'd been on when the picture was taken. It's incredibly lifelike, and you really have to stare at it for a few moments to realize it's just his picture.

Aside from my being able to look up & see "him" when I'm in the living room (and missing him), the other birds seemed to calm a bit the moment I put it up. They spent some time looking over at "him", and seem to be a bit calmer since. It's like they have taken some solace at his image. I'm sure they know it's not actually Reno (as this "Reno" is silent, which the real one NEVER is), but they seem somewhat content at still being able to see him.

Still desperately missing Reno. My wife is adamant that we will never re-unite (I'm told she's had a new boyfriend for quit a while now), so I will never see Reno again.

Still crying over him...

I hope you have contacted a lawyer. I just read about it a bit and it seems like they also take into account who can care for the animal better.

I think you could argue that the other birds love and miss Reno. He provided companionship for them and vice versa. He will be much happier when left alone with your family than all alone in a cage somewhere. Your whole flock is out of sorts.

I'm brand new to the forum, but if you started a GoFundMe to pay for a lawyer on this, I'd definitely donate to you, and I hope others here would do the same!

I'm also wondering, did you take more photos and videos of him than she did? That's another thing to prove that he was more in your life than hers. I'm praying for you. I can't imagine this happening to my baby.

….and things like who took him to see his doctor, and who paid for it? Little things like that add up and can be very benefitual when the "final day" comes in court!
