Cricket said her first word. Well in front of me anyways, who knows what she is saying behind my back.
She said, in a baby parrot voice (mumbling), "hello". A couple days later she said something along the lines of "pretty bird". She is mumbling a few other things that I couldn't make out, but "hello" is coming out the best, although it sounds like a wolf.... I think she likes to hold the "ooooo" :p
She is also mimicing a few other sounds, like the clicking noise I make with my tounge I used with training (sounds like the movie Mimic, creepy) She is also copying the kissing noise. There are some bird calls (at least I think they are bird calls) She did one that sounded like a baby bird whining, I was like "oh-boy"
Oh, oh and get this... she is making the squeeky noise that the dogs toy makes  Thats a good way to get chewed on.
I am sure she will be really talking by her hatch date, maybe even in front of someone other than me, so people will beleive me :D

She has really showed a lot of improvment being at my parents house. I am thinking thats because she is out with everyone. She is all about the head scratching now... can't even get her to step up because to to busy stuffing her face in my hand, although my mom is jeolous because she won't let her do that.

How wonderful is this!! :D

Chi, when you catch her talking I hope you make a REALLY BIG FUSS over it and give cricket lots and lots of praise. Ignore the sounds that you don't want her to repeat (like the doggy chew toy one) and really dote on the hellos and pretty birds.

Hopefully she is only saying nice things about you behind your back ... I hate those birds that are nice to your face, but then when they get around their friends and you aren't around they say mean and nasty things about you ... :D

I am really happy for you, I don't think Hamlet will ever catch on the talking thing ... but that's not important, but one of these days there will be a talking bird in my house (either a Grey or maybe ... BIGGER  )

:jumping40 Oh yeah that is great, I'm so happy for you, there's gonna be no stopping her now. Bucc will only talk up a storm in front of people he knows, those he doesn't know get "The Growl" and boy that can sound real scary to those who don't know him. :D

This is the time now that you are gonna have to watch what you say as she will definately pick up on the words you don't want her saying. Typical really, you spend hours training them to talk without any success but you say something bad and thats it they pick it up straight away. :18:

WE, TOO, HAVE HAD OUR FIRST TALKING INCEDENT !!! :30:

So, my fiancee and I have been trying to teach Hamlet certain words and phrases associated with certain things. For example, when we put him to bed it's, "Night Night" ...

Well, we have been trying to teach him, "love you." So, when we kiss we say "love you" and we repeat it several time, kissing each time (it's lots of fun for all parties envoloved ... ;) ).

So, tonight, Hamlet is on my shoulder, and I give my fiancee a kiss just while we were passing in the kitchen, and clear as day, "LOVE YOU" came the shrill voice from my shoulder ...

IT'S WORKING! WE ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!:D :D

Great to hear that the birdies all starting to talk the same time!!!! Woo hoo, maybe Popsicle will learn something else soon and maybe Pepsi will finally speak!!! If she never does though I don't care. I like it when birds speak in context and not just speaking to mimic you. When I put my finger down for Popsicle she says Step Up so she knows when to use it!!!

Way to go Cricket and Hamlet, Its great when birds start to talk and yeah its great when they get it in context.

When Bucc has done something wrong (I have never called him a bad bird, I really don't like to hear people say that about a bird) he will say "Bucc good boy, nooooooooooo, that came about when he had managed to get me through the bars of his cage, real skin shredding moment, he asked Bucc good boy, I said no, and from there on in its always been Bucc good boy, noooooooooo, whenever he's done something wrong. It usually brings a smile to my face, which I have to hide from him. :D
