Shes such a blast, such a good girl can be charmingly affectionate and one smart cookie.

I think I have a talker on my hands

These are the things she says I can decipher for sure, she mumbles a few others I have not deciphered yet.

Awesome Perjo! I can not even think how many words/phrases Smokey said in her 28 years. It seemed like she was picking up something new every day to the point I didn't even TRY and teach her anything anymore.

Keep on impressing your dad Perjo! :D

It's a good idea to write down everything he says.
I keep a running notebook on my iPad for everything new my Bella comes out with.
When she puts together a new combination of words she has already said we always get a laugh out of it.
Many of her sayings have not been heard in a long time. Don't know if they are forgotten or they will come back in time.

Wes I think Parrots are like elephants, they never forget!
My mom has been gone twelve years now. Mrs. Callan my moms best friend and next door neighbor has been gone even longer.
When Mrs Callan came over to visit, she'd open the back door and yell out " Ellen!!...ELLEN!!" and Amy picked it up and would say it from time to time..
Well this past Saturday morning while I'm here on the computer, what do I hear from the living room??? Ellen!!!...ELLEN!!!!!

Twelve years later Amy still remembers mom.

4 1/2 years old now CAG..got her at 14 weeks...Debbie is still clown! Now almost 4 1/2....never a dull moment!
They are amazing! Debbie is learning her address....having a tough time keeping her numbers in order and saying (Robert Avenue)....but she’s only 2...so far she has picked up many many words by herself and from the TV....and thankfully...no cursing!

They are amazing, and never cease to just blow me away with their ability to not only "say" the words, but to actually understand them! That's what is really impressive, their ability to logically think about things and understand them. My brother, Jagger, who is now 32 and lives with my mom and step-father, knows the sound of my car when I pull in their driveway! As soon as he hears my car pull in the driveway he starts yelling "El's here! El's here!" He always makes my mom cry whenever he does this, she was a mess at Thanksgiving dinner, lol, because he still loves me so much even though I haven't lived with him since I was 23, so 16 years ago. He flies right over to me as soon as I walk in their door and gives me a high-five every single time...

African gray, 'Toby'.
RIP Max and Bugsie (white capped pionus).
It's a good idea to write down everything he says.

You're going to run out of pages. We did. We used a steno notebook, with each page for the letter that the word(s) begin with. After we started filling up the pages, we just gave up.

And they don't forget. I will hear Toby going through his repertoire on sunrise and sunset, and occasionally hear a word that I haven't heard in 20 years or more, in the voice of someone who's long been dead. Creepy, that. Sometimes he does that when it's dark, and it freaks me out.

He's now 29, and recently will say the same things in different people's voices; I guess it depends on the situation or the mood he's in.
Weird.

Oh, and be careful what you say. Like the internet, once your bird has heard it, it can't be un-heard, and you may hear it from your bird at the most inappropriate times!

Cute little bird now 'farts', 'burps' (but at least says 'excuse me' after the burp), occasionally blasts the F word, thinks that you have to say 'oh, sh!t' if you drop something, and there's no way to stop it. NEVER say anything bad about a person who might visit! 25 years ago, a certain annoying relative was arguing with us, got up in a huff and left. I made a nasty remark, and in a future visit when he came back, nice birdy said the word as soon as he walked in the door.....in MY voice.

We love our talking birds. But be careful what you wish for. Sometimes you can't shut them up!

Today as I layed in bed I could her Perjo talking to herself, a daily morning ritual before I get up, and she said “wanna take a bath”. First time I heard that one. Love it.

Probably my biggest mistake as a rookie parront was having her associate the phrase “thank you” to a whistle when she was 20 weeks old. To this day she will not say “thank you “ she’ll make the whistle instead. Lol.

Jim, that’s amazing! Kinda makes you wonder what else they remember and to what degree? To be honest, poor Sass didn’t come programmed at all, and she was between 1 and 3. And I mean nothing, not even a beep. But then again, I didn’t even know the difference between an Amazon and a Grey when I brought her home, so talking wasn’t even an expectation. Of course now she won’t stop, but that’s okay too. But I’ve never gotten one single clue off her about her life before us.
