How many of you have Grey's that hate water? Specifically showers ? My first wanted nothing to do with it unless he showered in his water bowl. Apollo will shower occasionally in his water dish if you can call it that as all that gets wet is about the size of a quarter under his beak. Lol! He's in the shower everyday day but not interested one bit in getting wet. I've tried several different types of sprayers in the shower on his stand, treats more treats to no avail. Having talked to other Grey owners it seems its a broad issue with them. Certainly don't have this problem with the conure he's a little duck!!.

I'll give your thread a friendly bump. :)We have plenty of Grey parronts here... I bet somebody will have some observations for ya! My Patagonian certainly dislikes showers: he prefers a gigantic , shallow wok. Good luck!

Sometimes Trigger loves a shower... other times he tolerates it... and other times he can't stand it...

He hates hates hates any kind of bath though...

On the other hand, Yoda hates showers and only wants baths. Birds are crazy. :)

Yup , That says it all. I wonder how many hide from the rain in the jungle canopies vs enjoying it ? Probably would tell us a lot about human hands in the mix of their lives.Thank you.

Ours INSISTS on having showers! My wife can't have one without Reno going along. We have a large perch that stands in the shower. He stands on it and, when she's done, she turns the spray directly on him. He loves it - closes his eyes & even drifts off to sleep sometimes. He gets VERY perturbed when she shuts off the water!! Here's a video!

'Course, he also loves bathing. We have a large stainless steel pan (probably 16" across, and 3" deep), and we fill it with cool (not cold) water & put it on his play top. When he bathes, everything with 10 feet is drenched - he keeps at it for 20-30 minutes.

My Bella hated the shower the first time I took her in there, She screamed that grey's scream when they think someone is trying to kill them.

She gradually calmed down and now she loves to go into the shower with me (but not to get wet). She just likes to look out the window. Sometimes I will splash water on her with my hands and then when we get out she does a proper job of it in her water dish.

My birds wouldn't have it any other way , they love the shower just not the wet part. Apollo anyway Kona tolerates the shower but prefers his bowl.

The expression on his face is priceless.
You could put so many captions with that pic.
"What did I do to deserve this?"
"Do I really smell that bad?"
"The things I have to put up with"

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
Enzo LOVES to be with me when i shower, but she stays on the side above the water on the glass 'surround'. She chats and whistles away........ but will NOT go near the water.

I will spray her every few weeks but generally when she bathes in her water bowl. She isnt the cleanest of young women!

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
You know when they are in for a molt...all of a sudden the shower is *really* populair. ;)

I will ask "Appie douchen?" and she will come running!
Sunny wil scream indignantly if she even suspects we are going to have a showerparty without her.

Japie flies everywhere exept away from the spray.
(As long as it is on his backside...he does not like to get his front soaked for him, that he wants do by himself...)

Sunny is the only one that will actively put her head in the water and tries to catch it on her tongue etc. (I told you guys before she is probably part-penguin ;) ) She does not even mind getting water in her ceres etc..

Yes, the same w/ Levi. He's definitely more agreeable with lots of pin feathers.
