All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
If you parrot has a large cage and plenty of perches... it his/her choice.
Sometimes the high perches are too close to 'the roof' of the cage and they are more comfortable with more headroom.

Maybe your bird is a lazy midnightsnacker and decided to sleep on/near the munchies for easy access?
Enzo does that sometimes. But as Christa says make sure there is plenty of room for him to stretch. Enzo can just about climb from the top of the cage to her sleep perch, just abour
