Tonight while having play time with my bird he starting acting weird. Flapping his wings and like choking then threw up. Should I be worried ? Why would he do this?

4 1/2 years old now CAG..got her at 14 weeks...Debbie is still clown! Now almost 4 1/2....never a dull moment!
I’m no expert but ....our Debbie does this too....beginning to think she is a horny teenager....she’ll be 3 in a couple weeks....she only acts that way with me....started to be more frequent the last couple months...I think she loves me...and ...
She droops her wings, chortles and will regurgitate to feed me I think...gets really excited and demands attention....I try to ignore and put her back in here cage for a quick reset...

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
This is definitely mating activity with the wings drooped low and held out from her body a little, try and be nice to her but also try and distract her away. I just tell enzo I love her then move her somewhere and show her something new or whatever. She also tries to paw my face with a foot...... Debbie DEFINITELY loves you, dont put her in the cage though, it must be frustrating enough for them when they are like that.

Simple regurgitating (looks like choking as bringing food from hist/her crop, has a sweet smell to it) is more a sign of affection and normally will only last a few seconds, totally normal, take it as a real compliment.

She’s pretty persistent with her not so subtle advances...I have her fly to her perch or cage top to distract her, but she insists! LOL, that’s when she gets put in her cage for the reset.only for a short bit....

This is normal for when a bird becomes of age, usually around 3 years old. They will regurgitate to offer you food. This is very different from puking, they have a crop before the food goes to the stomach, this is how they feed their babies and their mates in the wild. Your bird just loves you and wants to feed you. My macaw does this to me all the time. I just give him a little "earthquake" and tell him "I don't want your lunch", not that it stops him but most of the time the food doesn't come out when I rock him a little. It's so gross and cute at the same time when he does this, he usually eats back whatever he regurgitates.

I'm going against the flow here. I'm worrying it's true vomit.
My birds will regurgitate to me, but never flapping wings first, and never acting like they are choking.....
My birds usually try to put in my mouth, or my Penny used to try and feed objects.
Smell the stuff next time, regurge smells fresh, and vomit smells sickly.
How are stools, how's weight?
I hope the others are right, and your bird is just lovey a d not sick.
If I was unsure , I would take my bird to the vet, just to be safe. Keeps us posted.

I'm assuming the bobbing of the head that birds do to regurgitate was mistaken as choking as it can look like that. Can never be too sure though. :)

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
I am guessing this is sexual-

When that happens, stop the activity that led to it and disengage without being too mean (no scolding or reaction--just reduce contact and try not to pay attention or encourage). No cuddles, no petting anywhere other than the head (ever......) and no continued contact until the moment has passed and no dark spaces whatsoever (boxes, tents, huts, under furniture, under clothing, under pillows, bedding etc)

Trust me....this isn’t puking or choking....most times she gets distracted and stops sometimes it takes a bit more “non action” to get her to chill out....I only pet her head and can usually tell when she’s going to get “excited” and change the focus, but there are times when only me leaving the room or caging her is the resolution...
She is a fully flighted, stubborn clown, she can entertain and frustrate at the same time!

Oh thank goodness!!!! I was sooo happy to see this “definitely mating activity with the wings drooped low and held out from her body a little”. I was just getting ready to figure out how to post a video for someone to help me because I have never seen her do this before today!
