CAG scams

Hi, My name is Magdi and Iím new to this forum, I would like if anyone has any info on the following sites as scam or legit please share it with me.
Iím interested to get a CAG companion but had some bad luck before with scammers and there is no one close by in my state that I can visit in person and see the birds, so online is a viable option for me now. I recently lost my beloved Parakeet and would love to have a CAG companion.

The first site called Afro Birds Farm, they operate out of Canada, ON
the website is: [https://www.afrobirdsfarm.com]

The second one is called Hassan Breeders Farm out of Atlanta, GA
the website is: https://hassanbreedersfarm.com/

Any feed back will be truly appreciated.
thanks

Re: CAG scams

Where are you located?

If in the USA it will cost a LOT to import from Canada.

Hassan farms is a scam. They sell eggs, thatís all you need to know to determine they are a scam. But, I also live near Atlanta and Iím an Aviculturist myself; I can tell you they donít exist.

What is your timeline like, and your price range? There are plenty of ways to get a CAG and Iím sure we can help you find a real person to deal with

Re: CAG scams

Check out birdbreeders.com there are some good options there.

I live near a store/breeder here in Illinois who is wonderful. Parrotstars.com has African Greys and I believe they do ship.

Re: CAG scams

Sorry, but I think both are scams. The first 'sells' eggs, which no for real breeder will ever offer, and the second has no address, and has parrots for crazy cheap prices, also a tip off that there are in fact no birds actually being offered.

It really does suck big time that there are so many scams in the companion parrot marketplace these days. Check your local ASPCA or vets ( avian vets are best) to see if there are any parrot shelters or sanctuaries near you, so you can gain experience and first hand knowledge about Greys and other parrots. They might even be able to connect you with breeder(s) or folks looking to rehome their parrot.

Good Luck!

Re: CAG scams

Would you consider adopting a rescure bird?

How old are YOU? CAGs live a very very long time, I was 49yrs old when I took in Enzo, she was 13 but as im middle aged I didnt want a baby bird.

Just a thought of course.

Re: CAG scams

Thanks a lot SilverSage, appreciated, What drove me to these online sites that I’m currently retired and have two sons in collage, hence, I do not have much funds left to go for the $2.5K or more for a CAG baby and the initial cost between a decent cage and toys, food, … would be around $1000. so when I did my internet search hope to find legitimate breeders who sell at a more reasonable price to my limited budget, these sites came up and I vetted some of them to be scams but these two site I could not find any other reference to them, the site in canada says they ship to the US for abut $100, I'll keep looking and meanwhile I'm getting another Budgy. Thanks again for your help

Re: CAG scams

If you are looking to keep your budget under $1000 for a grey you will mostly be looking at older birds being rehomed, and rescues have you looked at your local parrot rescues?

Definitely a mature rescue bird then I would suggest. Ive had several budgie's and they are adorable, but a CAG really is a companion with an intellect on a totally different level.
For interest, I took on Enzo, with her cage free of charge but i would have very happily paid anything her previous owner wanted. She is now nearly 15yrs old, so indeed very young for a CAG, she is also totally loyal and adorable.

Good luck in what ever choice you make, but please, dont buy a young bird as they will only need rehoming once you pass on, and a young CAG WILL out live you!.
